USFA State Hendersonville

Did anyone find it unacceptable that the USFA Girls 12U facility at Veterans Park were not maintained at all during the entire weekend. Examples..Fields were never raked or lined after the first game. the restrooms did not provide soap for handwashing, most of the umpires were in Middle School...age wise, They provided a scorekeeper to run the scoreboard but they could not keep up with the game at all and some just would not keep the score.

I thought the money my team and family paid to stay in Hendersonville and play should have bought a more professional attention to a once in a life event for the kids and the families.

Lastly either the USFA director or the town of Hendersonville should account for this or issue refunds to the participants.

The Hendersonville Park is one of the best in the state. You did not mention how the staff works from about 10:00 p.m. until 3-4 in the morning picking up trash, cleaning, lining the fields, dragging the fields. Some of it could be a communication issue with the tournament director and the parks. The umpires have nothing to do with the city and would be the same no matter where they were played. Some came as far away as Arkansas. The parks staff and city do a great job and don't deserve to be bashed by you. Sounds like you must have lost in the finals or something.

So your saying that my concerns are unfounded. Regardless of how long the staff works we still did not have raked fields, lined field, (after the 8:00 AM game) soap in the restrooms (ever)or appropriate umprires or scorers. We didn't make it to the finals but my concerns are still valid.

I do agree with the original post. My daughter has played at the Hendersonville park several times and it is great!, but my niece played at the Veteran's Park last weekend and we went to watch on our wait time. I thought it was terrible compared to how nice it was at the other park. Also, what concessions they did sell were way over priced!

Well just because a person raises questions about the event not being up to par why not just address the issues and speak to the facts instead of being defensive. I have yet see anyone from Hendersonville or USFA speak up.

Why not let people "defend" the tournament just as you can "raise questions". Unlike most tournaments we play in, the USFA sent all of the head coaches a questionnaire asking for input as to how they could make the tournament better. Sure, you can "raise questions" about every tournament you play in, but Crook's would be the last one I would question. A lot of the problems were not under his control and you can rest assured they will be addressed and corrected. He is one of the few TD's who is actually concerned about how is tournaments are received.

To "raise questions" about this tournament only shows that you have not played in very many...............

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
