How is LC looking so far this year. Are they happy with the new Coach. Have they had any scrimmages yet. I heard they have some decent skill people, but line could be a little weak?

How do you think they will do against the Cats? Sweetwater has played several sophs. and some freshman in with the starters so far this fall, will they be over their heads with the LC starters?

Scrimmage is tonight @ 6pm.

I was at the scrimmage and you are correct about the line for LC being weak. They must protect the QB and open better holes for the RB's to get anything going offensively. LC does not have much size to speak of on the O-Line and is going to need to utilize quickness instead. I thought Sweetwater looked pretty good and has some good skill players as well.

I see.. Sweetwater scored everytime they had the ball, and also returned an interception for a TD. 5 - 0 with both teams 1's in. Sweetwater had several big plays Brewster, McDermott, Blomstrom, Richesin all had nice runs. Worley had a TD rec, and 2 int's. . The panthers moved the ball for a few 1st downs, but I beleive never got inside Sweetwaters 30yd line. They did have one long run but it was called back on a hold.

-- Lc did score twice with 2nd team. During that time both teams probably had about the same number of yards, as Sweetwater got the whole team in the game.

One thing I will say about the panthers they tried to stay pumped up the whole game. Jumping up when they did make a tackle and celebrating like they just made the tackle that won the game. I particularly liked their chant in the defensive huddle 1-2-3 kill. They did it down 4-0 a couple times right before Sweetwater scored their 5th TD.

-- Lenior City has a few good players, and had a couple nice plays, but it is going to be a long long long year I'm afraid. - /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Doesn't anyone else have an opinion on LC, or did I pretty much hit the nail on the head?

2AFootball you may be right, however, I think LC will improve as the year progresses. They have a complete new coaching staff, many of which have only been around for a month or so. The players are working hard and will only get better as they learn Coach Zeller's system. It may be a long year again, however, I do think LC will at least be competitive in some of their games and may even pull out a few victories. We'll see....

Winning FB games doesn't happen over night. A foundation must be laid. That includes emotion, love of the game and winning somewhere along the line. Coach Z told me that will start with their resurected Middle School program. Doing things right and patience will eventually bring wins to Lenoir City. Right now if you know football you will not evaluate W and L's, but focus on the little things that create W's down the road.

With all that was said about the old coaching staff and them now being gone I fully expect the Panthers to be playing for the Region 4-3A title and playing late into November. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Solomon, I don't think anyone realistically expects the Panthers playing late into Nov., however, as the post by noonesfool states, if you know Football, you won't evaluate this team by wins and losses. I think all we want to see is improvement which would actually be just competing in some of their games. Wins would be icing on the cake. Give it a few years for the Middle School program to get going and I think Lenoir City will start playing in November again...

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
