Mcminn comes calling in 2 weeks, should be a good game for a while,if the owls can wear them down,it will not be close.,..but if the kees are in shape and excute,it will be another close one(like last year) early predication: OWLS 42/6

I agree the offense needs some work, the line looked great!!!!!!!! dont know why you would nt put the BIG THREAT "Seamster" in on more plays????????? QB needs to settle down in the pocket a bit and Ooltewah will be unstoppable.

The score is not indicitave of how we played. I believe we have alot of work to do on both sides of the ball. The defensive line is playing outstanding which is masking some of our shortcomings. I believe #38 has earned himself a starting spot somewhere as he plays with a lot of heart. I would like to see #7 perform on Friday night as he does against the cannon fodder aka as the scout team. I love the energy #20 and #36 bring to the defense. #5 is just a sophomore but looks good @ returning punts and knows how to make people miss.

Offensively, we are a work in progress with so many new starters at the skill positions. Our passing game will improve once the qb and wr get on the same page most of the time. I'm beginning to think the wr's aren't always where they should be which causes the qb to look bad. This area should improve dramatically in game #2.

i like the owls defense this year, very physical and quick front four and secondary will be a strength with their speed, size and athletisism. OWLS 34 WHITES CREEK 7

I agree w/most: DEFENSE is were you win championships,if that is the case Ooltewah has a great chance at region and more. Those are some of the biggest, fastest athletes with such bad intentions on that side of the ball, that,Ive seen in a while.John Long will kick alot. I haven't figured out,yet how the owls are going to do it,but my gut tells me..Ooltewah 42....whitescreek 0,if the offense sputters owls still win big with turnovers and special teams.Whitescreek will not do anything on offense, they will punt alot. And,if seamster doesn't block it,someone will take it to the house. GOOD LUCK to everybody!!

I got real,real close!!!!

Personal ratings:

D-Line A+ 67 and 36 could not be stopped

LB's A after some early miscues where they did not maintain gap discipline they played a great game

D-Backfield B a couple of nice interceptions, but they need to work on their tackling. I said the same thing last year, too many arm tackles

O-Line B run blocking was good to great, pass blocking was avg

RB's A great running in the trenchs. Very few runs to the outside, but that was play calling. Pass blocking needs to be worked on, saw a few whiffs when they were supposed to help the O-Line

WR B could have been a B+ if #6 makes the easy catch in the end zone. He did redeem himself with a nice catch a run later on

QB C+ That first interception was a terrible throw. Take the sack or throw it out of bounds. The line did not give him time on that throw, but he needs to learn not to throw it up for grabs. Most of the other throws were decent. The one that was drobbed in the end zone was a beauty while on the run.

Kicking A+ every kick off in the end zone, great punting and a 42 yard FG

Coaching B+ Once we got the big lead, I would have liked to have seen Benny work on a few more short passes and bring in the 2nd string a little earlier for some quality PT. I still wish he would change the way he gets the plays into the QB. Having him run to the sideline every play seems like a waste of time and engergy.

Overall a solid B to B+ game

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
