AE vs. Webb

Well i guess i was the only one that took Webb. Webb won 19-6..Caleb the freshmen is going to be special. Webb is young and it was a sloppy game. A.E. always gets better as the year goes on. 4 in a row over A.E. now. Not bad, Webb now has 4 in row against powell, A.E., Bearden, 3 in a row against CAK, 2 in a row against West, Anderson county, carter...they have always dominated halls in the jamboree...too bad farragut wont play them, (they did once in the jamboree of 2001 which in 1qtr Webb was up 14-0), it would be a fun game...the only knoxville/prep extra area schools webb has not dominated when they have played is catholic(catholic has won 6 in a row but not before webb won 19 years in a row), Alcoa, and central in (1999 and 2000) of late.....not bad for a school with 200 boys.

Impressive win by Webb. AE has amazing athletes but somehow Webb was able to win it.

 

First half was pretty sloppy with neither team able to do much. Key play was made by Webb's desfensive secondary when AE through deep to the corner of the end zone to their huge WR. Webb's safety was able to jump high enough to bat the ball away and Webb's CB was able to catch it for the INT.

 

Second half Webb's offense got things moving against a tough AE defense. After AE scored to take a 6-0 lead, Webb reeled off 19 straight to put AE away.

 

The freshman RB for Webb #20 is so small but very fast and tough for his size. Webb's other backs were also fast but #1 runs extremely hard and gets the tough yards while #11 shows potential but put the ball on the ground 2-3 times.

 

AE will be a contender for sure... they have too many athletes not to get it together. They are big, physical and fast. It just looked like to me that Webb fought harder and wanted it more.

ScottA11... I can see AE beating Catholic this week if they get things together on offense. They need to go with one QB and keep rotating all of those backs they have. Their defense is pretty solid and will benefit from facing the wing-t this past friday. The key to stopping Catholic is discipline on defense. Play your responsibilities and don't get lulled to sleep because Catholic will always play action and throw deep at least 4-5 times per game. This usually results in big plays as the safeties are so used to coming up for run support. They also like to throw that underneath screen. AE's LB's should blow that play up. We'll see.

 

As for Webb beating Catholic... the Irish have their number right now. It would be an upset if they did.
