Smyrna's Offensive Scheme

One thing that I don't understand about Smyrna's offense is why they never went to a spread formation against Siegel. Even if you know that you are not going to throw the ball, go 4 wide and take some of those defenders out of the middle and hand the ball to Bryson from the shotgun so he can build some momentum and not have quite as many tacklers to fight off. The bubble screen and quick out pass are also doable from the spread and takes a bit of pressure off the O-Line. You don't have to have a QB who throws 15-20 yard outs to be successful and keep a defense honest. Rod wasn't the only WR at Smyrna last year and many have good hands and speed. Get them in one on one situations and let them make the guy miss.
