28-7 Morristown East wins.

What can you say ?

Penalties and mistakes killed it for the guys, plus we could not run to the outside.

Seems like the guys could not contain # 10 even when they seem to know he was going to get the ball.

The guys were very flat and didn't seem to have any heart.

There didn't seem to be any leadership. SOMEONE HAS TO STEP FORWARD !!

As soon as they would get something going, there comes the towels out.

The guys better get it together before next week.

LETS GO BIG BLUE !!!

Jeff County played okay tonight. McFall was missed and would have been

a factor. Both teams had a ton of flags . This was East's best game so

far. Very good show for a full house . I don't believe there were any

injuries from a lot of big hits by both tams.

Brooks and Toliver will be hard to stop. Darby can throw as well as run if needed. Our corners finally played last week and hopefully will do so this week. Yes, Allen and McFall will be missed but JC is not a one player team like East. Jefferson County wins this one.

Tee did not play a down on D tonight. He was not the one who pounded every stud you mentioned when they touched the ball. I am pretty sure I saw a team out there tonight not one guy.

I really hope that East can find a way to win this game, but I do not feel very good about it for East (again, I am a West fan, but always pull for the home teams). I have looked at the information that is available (cannot find yards per game or any of that statistical data -- which is a real shame -- someone should make a 5 Rivers Web site with the information available to everyone -- see the Mountain Lakes conference Web site it is great) and have found the following:

ME has scored 49 points or 24.5/game and allowed 24 points or 17/game -- their opponents have a record of 0 wins and 5 losses.

Jeff has scored 82 points or 27.3/game and allowed 80 points or 26.7/game -- their opponents have record of 5 wins and 3 losses.

On paper both teams are extremely even, with Jeff getting a slight nod due to the teams they have played. If this was West's open week I would be at this game. I really think it will be a classic with two good teams playing hard the entire night. I hope that both teams have a good game, no injuries and a Cane win.

NOW:

ME has scored 77 points or 25.7/game and allowed 31 points or 10.3/game -- their opponents have a record of 2 wins and 10 losses.

Jeff has scored 89 points or 22.25/game and allowed 108 points or 27.0/game -- their opponents have record of 8 wins and 6 losses.

Cane, Mark Twain said something to this affect. There are 3 types of lies. The lies that you and I tell, eveen worse, the lies that politicians tell and the greatest lies of them all, statistics. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I hate to tell ya dude, but our best running back (Brooks) ran the ball down your throat when they would give it to him. Half the time the hankies came out, some where justified, some not. Why he didn't run the ball more, I have no idea.

Not really complaining about the refs but when you pitch the ball to a RB who throws a pass but gets hit..How is that ruffing the passer?? He's a RB not a QB.

What is up with this D. Why can't they tackle? Are they practicing this way at home so not to get anyone hurt and it carries on over into game time???? Ex; Punter drops the ball and rolls it around on the ground, stills gets it off. 3 Patriot players are within 5yds of the punter and they stop to let him kick it.

108pts in 4 games. This defense needs an over haul!

Non-conference game. Probably didn't want to take a chance on gettin him banged up. Still this was not a confidence building game.

I hate to tell ya dude, we had our best run stopping linebacker out last night. Brooks had a few good runs but I also saw him have several for no gain. Please do not cry about penalties. We set a school record last night and had a TD called back by one. Penalties actually kept that game close.

BTW, he got the punt off because it was just a good play by him and he had a little blocking.

The roughing the passer call was offset by a penalty by us so that is irrelevant.

Nice win Canes, grats and good luck the rest of the way.

To our Pats, I hope we figure out what's wrong with our D and get it fixed. It's been a problem all year. No containment, the secondary has been out of position most of the season with the exception of a single game, and speed has been an issue with them. Also, the D-line will do well one series and then allow holes the size of the Atlanta by-pass the next.

I would like to see our Offense opened up just a bit more. I think Darby can throw it well. Spread Brooks out occasionally and throw it to him on a slant, see if the defensive secondaries are willing to step up and take the hit to stop him. Find more ways to punish tacklers with his size. Let's get some plays in there quicker still and mix it up more. Use Brooks early in the games and wear down the defense with his punishing style. We just seem to plod along too slowly and our scores in the last 3 games reflect that.
