Jefferson Co. @ Morr. East

I've not seen either team, but I happen to have good knowledge from those who have. On paper, East is the favorite, but games are not played on paper. Given that, McFall's injury will be tough for the Patriots to overcome, but maybe it works in JCHS favor this week with East not knowing what to prepare for at the QB spot. I really like the coaching job that Justin Anderson has done at JCHS, and I'm glad to see him doing well. He's a good guy. For East, I don't think they have played to their potential, and the coaching is probably to blame for that. In a coaching matchup, I would favor JCHS slightly over East (I'm just not sold on Hatcher being a great coach). If I was East, I would get the ball in Tee Howell's hands as much as possible, but his numbers won't be as big this week against JCHS like they were in the previous two games (with a great second half at Crockett). With that said, playing the game in Morristown could give East a slight advantage, but I think JCHS will be anxious to avoid the Hamblen County sweep in this one. Probably wouldn't hurt for JCHS to try a passing game against East, who had their secondary and linebackers exposed by the quick passing game against Karns where they got plenty of balls to the running backs.

JCHS 17, East 14

I agree with most of what bigdaddy69 has said, and I think it'll be a hard fought battle with the Patriots coming out on top. I don't think that JCHS's QB situation will hurt them too much with an excellent back-up coming out for the Pats, but McFall will definitely be missed not only as a player, but as a leader on the field. As for playing in Morristown giving East an advantage? Forget about it. For the past 3 years whenever Jeff Co. has played in Morristown, JCHS has had more of student section there than either East or West have. Not to mention a completely packed visitor stand. The location isn't going to make a difference. I expect it to be a great game no matter what, though! Go Patriots!!!

I believe that East has the better athletes, especially with the injuries to the Pats, but I do not know if they will be able to put an entire game together this early. I am hoping for a Hamblen County sweep, but know that East will have to play 4 quarters to win this one. As for respect, I respect anyone who plays the game. Any team can lose or win and that is why the game is played. I respect East for doing what they had to do to get the wins, but Jeff is not a Crockett or a Karns (again, said with respect, but also with reality). If East plays their game and takes the game to Jeff, the Canes will win. However, if East allows Jeff's backfield to get going it will be a very long night for the Canes. As for being ranked above West, I will have to wait for this game to see if that sticks.

It is too bad both teams are going into this game banged up. I hope both teams get

through this game without more injuries which will hurt them in their Conference run.

I think this game will be entertaining for the fans and the winner will be determined

by who is holding the hot hand Friday night. Sorry to hear about McFall's injury --he

was a game breaker.

Go Canes !!

Is Mr. Allen out for a few weeks? He shouldn't have played in the Campbell Co. game.....not enough time to heal a sprained knee, even with a brace....He is an excellent player with great strength and speed (and leadership ability).....The defense will miss his help....makes the game that much more of a toss-up....One more comment after reading some of the other opinions - I think West is stronger and better than East...but I guess that will have to be proven on the field...West is a solid squad....just an observation from a neutral fan.....

With a few major injuries to the Patriots, this game should be a real battle. Let's hear some predictions and specific breakdowns on this contest.... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I haven't heard anything about mcfall being injured but with him off the field it'll be a battle... East by 7... only b/c of mcfall

Christian is a great athlete and definitely an awesome football player. There is no doubt that he will be missed on the football field. That being said, Darby will do fine at qb and he will pick up where Christian left off. It obviously says something about Darby when he comes in in the first quarter and plays qb for the first time in about 3 weeks. He had completely quit working with the qb's and was working with the wr's in practice. And its not like McFall is gone. He is still a great leader and the captain of the football team. He will continue to have a positive impact on the Patriots.

you obviously dont know what your talking about. We are not a one man team like east is. Darby is just as good as McFall.

Morristown East has other players, just T-Howell is special. We are a good team without him, but

we could become a great team with him. If the patriot D spend all their time on T-Howell, other players

will beat Jeff Co. The wing T is a offense that makes Defense play honest. When T-Howell goes in motion,

and Jeff Co. starts running at him. One of our other runningbacks could be gone. Stoping T-Howell is

a start, if Jeff Co. is to win Friday Night. I think this game will come down to turnover & what Defense

can slow down the other team. Good luck to both Teams, lets have a clean game. GO CANES!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
