From what I have seen this year Powell has some kids to watch out for. Dyshawn Mobley is getting reps at RB in meaningful spots. Colby Skeen is a kid who is getting some special teams reps here and there and also some reps in garbage time, but he's one of the first freshman that see time on Friday nights. Jonathan Staggs is a FS who will probably start for the Panthers next year, and Justin Wood is a WR who will probably step in to replace Collins or Drummer next fall for Powell. Also, Samuel Hamilton, Tony Foster, and Darian Logan could all see meaningful offensive or defensive snaps for Powell next year

Obviously, with my son playing for Powell, I'm a little biased and a little more well seasoned in their roster. I know Karns has a qb that is going to be a stud in the years to come, and they have some good looking linemen. We haven't played the Maryville Freshmen yet but the West kid is going to be an absolute monster when its all said and done.

Just to speak about Middle TN for a minute... Smyrna has a really solid unit this year. They announced at the game Friday that they beat Blackman pretty good on Thursday. Somebody said they were currently undefeated and on a roll. They also announced that they play MBA's Freshmen next Thursday. I hope to make it up to that game (I'll have more details then). Should be a great one. You can always count on MBA to be a solid football team.

I know here in Blount County we have some very talented freshman.

Alcoa- Vanderbilt "V" Hambrick is probably the fastest back in the county. Great hands and very shifty. Chaz Vesser at receiver. Zach Chapman is a beast at fullback. Several good line too.

Maryville- As mantioned Jacob West is huge for a freshman running back. He has great vision and speed. At QB is Patton Robinett, he is going to be a great Maryville QB. He can run and trow. ColbyTate and Brandon Guy are great lineman. Very fast and strong.

Heritage- Start with Matt Plummer at QB, he is getting some snaps with the varsity and runs the JV offense.

Running back Chase Cline has turned in some solid play on Monday nights. He's quick and shifty and don't care to run through you if he has to, also plays corner on defense.

Luke Eldridge is as solid at LB and O-line as any other freshman in the area. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

William Blount- The QB is a great athlete and they have a very stonge line. Mike Brown anchors that unit.

Waltez Gains [RB,LB], Taylor Darden [WR,CB,PR,KR], Justin Norman [WR,CB,PR,KR], Ty Fetner [WR,S], and Adam Thompson [QB] are all freshmen on the Indy team that contribute to JV. Not just dress, but play just about every snap. They bring much to the table for the freshman team, and are just a couple to watch out for over the next few years.

Coach Miller has a nice group of Freshmen at Southwind High. They have a pretty good quarterback named Matt Lucas 'bout 5'7/5'8 right now. Their offensive weapons are a hard nosed fullback Kendall Williams and 6'2 Jonathon Baker. Not to mention 5'11 Steven James a transfer from Texas with soft hands and he's at least 220. 5'9 Dedrick Jones is the return specialist and had over 150 all purpose yards against Bartlett. Steven Johnson and Keante Turner are the standouts on defense. They're moving Johnson around quite a bit and might put the 6'0, 196 kid at Middle Linebacker and Keante is a pretty good weakside End right now. They play Arlington this thursaday and last year the two teams battled to a 36-28 Southwind victory so it should be pretty good.

MBA's frosh knocked the snot out of franklin co, blackman, cookeville, and put up 24 points on indy in the 4th to beat them. Very strong group. Has a stable full of runningbacks and a great qb in Aaron Simonis. They also have a 6'8 tight end elliot watts and a 6'2 wr with a 34 inch verticle in Austin Blackwell. They have a good sized line and a strong linebacking corps. Well coached and well conditioned. They play Smyrna thursday who is maybe the best freshman team in the state.

Volunteer High School has a great RB Devin Rogers #5 that isn't getting but maybe 4 touches a game on Varisty since the line isn't blocking anyone this year, and they are passing pretty much 80% of the time.

In JV games he is putting up great rushing numbers and having good recieving numbers, also returning punts and kickoffs, and playing saftey also. His footwork will make your head spin, he is a back that can juke you out of your shoes and also lower his shoulder or stiff arm you to the ground.

Definitely look for this young man in the upcoming years!
