Tullahoma at Hillsboro

The Tullahoma Wildcats travel to Nashville this Friday nite to play the Hillsboro Burros. Game time is 7pm and the long range weather forecast calls for rain. The Cats self destructed in the second half against Maplewood after leading at halftime 7-6 and lost 36-14. There is no pressure for Tullahoma to beat Hillsboro. A win for the Cats will not put them in position to host a first round play-off game. A win would give the Cats a little confidence going into the final week showdown at home against Lawrence Co. If Tullahoma could beat Lawrence Co, they would finish in 4th place in Region 5-4A and probably travel to Beech HS in Hendersonville. Hillsboro has no pressure also, as a loss to Tullahoma would probably not hurt their chances in winning the Region championship. The Burros have wins already over Maplewood and Whites Creek. Both teams should be loose and it could be a fun game to watch.

If Tullahoma needs confidence going into their game with Lawrence Co. they may as well not bother to play the first game of the playoff. Tullahoma should easily beat Lawrence Co. As I see it, barring a meltdown by any of the current top four teams, the positions in 5-4A are set:

1. Hillsboro

2. Maplewood

3. Whites Creek

4. Tullahoma

No contest............burros

Certainly Tullahoma is the underdog in this contest - I don't think anyone will disagree with that. However, I do believe that it will be more of a contest than some think. Rain will be a factor, and Tullahoma's run game is good. Tullahoma will have to play an A game , and as usual the team with fewer mistakes will win.

quick question, if maplewood wins out and hillsboro lose to tullahoma, would the records give maplewood the upper hand. both teams would be 5-1 in the region but maplewood will be 8-2 and hillsboro will be 7-3. how would that play out? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Although both teams would be 5-1, Hillsboro beat Maplewood, so Hillsboro would win the tie-breaker.

    • Now that wouldn’t surprise me a bit. That has been going on heavily since the days of Larry Kerr @ AC. One of the major reasons CC has never really had much at all, barring about 2 seasons in football. AC milks it dry.
    • Interesting how quite it is. Rumors are going around that Anderson County is being looked at by TSSAA for recruiting violations with the Campbell County transfers.
    • I heard from a member of the teaching staff that there has been a dispute over use of the game field between football, and girls lacrosse team. Girls had a game and wanted to warm up and football coaches did want to leave. The football coaches came down hard with some bad vulgar language and the girls lacrosse backed down. What a classy act BHS athletics has become.
    • The lawsuit requests a jury trial. Sable Winfree has extremely competent legal representation. FYI - her lawyer represented the Warren County school system for years, and I believe he knows what constitutes a reasonable lawsuit.
