I feel like all the "underdogs" took the games....

frankin over oakridge

db over riverdale

brentwood over collierville

siegel over houston

?

i would have called all of those games the opposite way, except maybe siegel and houston because siegel is a very strong team and houston has a habit of losing in the quarter finals of state, although in past years it was to bearden.

Jewell and H2odog are from the same litter and may never bet on the West again.

Since no body gave Collierville or Houston a notice, I thought I would go long. Should have dropped back and punted.

WAIT!, wrong sport.

I have gone on record that the West is not in it for DII, this year, but as I type Briarcrest may prove me wrong. I really thought Houston was growing each game and #25 is for real, and a freshman.

Collierville graduated 11 seniors last year and only 5 players (I think) had any playing time and they still made the trip. We've got a lot of young folks out here on the left coast, we'll get you next year, promise! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

/flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> Happy to report that Briarcrest was able to come through for the D2 West!

Score was 2 to 1 Briarcrest at the half. PJP came out strong and scored the equalizer off a free kick. Briarcrest answered with two additional goals making the score 4 to 2. However, PJP came back and scored a 3rd one with about 4 minutes left in the game to make the score 4 to 3....which was the Final!

We are really excited about the opportunity to play Baylor in the Finals!

I am not sure I would completely agree. In a preview of the tournament in the Tennessean this was their statement:

TEAMS TO WATCH

AAA favorite: Franklin. Contenders: Brentwood, Collierville, Siegel. Outlook: Lucy Brient's 31 goals power Franklin's offense, which should be efficient enough to win title No. 11.

Perhaps the only underdog would be DB.

we are now really excited to play Father Ryan in the finals,,,,,

You are just REALLY excited and I may lose my lunch bet.

Congrates, its going come down to who can score the most, I think since neither of you want to play D. Tell the girls to pick one great play from the last four games and you"ll wear the Crown home. Every game has had one so keep up the pattern. Don't let them score and bunker down like GPS and Baylor.

Thanks! Consistency....what is that?!?! If we could master that.....or rather, if every team could master that! It has been a few days of surprise result this week.

Take care, and I will keep you posted.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
