Any ideas what our conference will look like next season? I've heard Unicoi Co., Happy Valley, Sullivan North and Sullivan East, but who else will be conference opponents? I'm just curious so if anyone has any information regarding that can you please let me know?

I took the new enrollment numbers that came out last week along with the first proposal of 3 classifications with 16 districts that came out this past June. Some schools changed, but it was still pretty close. When the first proposal came out, it had Sullivan Central in this district. When the new enrollments came up, Central was bumped up to AAA and will be in the 5A playoffs.

 

Betsy new enrollment for this re-alignment was 761

Johnson County 723

Happy Valley 614

Sullivan North 638

Unicoi County 756

Sullivan East 989

 

Central was 1069, so they were moved to AAA

Rumors have it that Greeneville may be trying to persuade the TSSAA to be placed in the upper east TN district rather than join Grainger Co., Union Co., Pigeon Forge, et. al. Just a rumor, though.

If I was Greeneville I would wanna stay in that region and not move to upper east tn.

They should win that region every year !

Why wouldn't Greeneville move to Region 1? They still will be the dominant team. They will be better seasoned from playing the likes of Elizabethton, Sullivan East, and Sullivan North. Not the best teams in the area (DB, South, TN High) but they are much better than any of the other Greene County schools.

 

Plus, why wouldn't they want to renew the rivalry with Betsy.

Greeneville will still play South and Mo- West. Betsy is the one who cut off the rivalry. Greeneville needs to play in Region 1, so they will be better prepared for the playoffs.

With this alignment, Region 1 only has 1 AAAA team and would lose its automatic bid to the AAAA play-offs. If I were Sullivan East, I would rather see Greeneville replace 1 of the AAA teams. Greeneville would prefer the more challenging schedule that region 1 would provide and we would definitely look forward to renewing the 'ol Betsy rivalry.
