You playing or watching hockey?

That's not a sport you learned at MBA, I bet.

Playing, and you'd bet right. when I was MBA, the only youth hockey in Nashville was played from 10 PM-6 AM. My dad certainly wasn't going to deal with that, and the cost was astronomical. MBA does play hockey now, and I'm hoping to see a game this year.

"Two words that I have said over and over the past two plus years......NO HEART. There is no team in the state of TN that has the talent of BA. They get so little from so much it is amazing. This is not the BA's of old....Hasn't been for a while. They are loaded with DI talent all over the field. They arm tackle and get outsmarted. They are not known for laying the wood on someone. They are living off reputations that were EARNED years ago, and they have no right to claim the same rep, as they haven't EARNED it. This is not the BA people have known for years. I have been around this team as a season ticket holder, supporter, fan and player since the 70's, and I know what I am talking about."

Interesting prediction since this was a post from last week about the same BA team you expect to beat what is considered the Midstate's best team in Ensworth. Have they found their heart?

I can't believe you say there was no heart in last year's team. They were a strong team and worked as hard as they could considering the coaching change and a way too young and inexperienced quarterback. The year before that they won the state.I can't believe anyone would have thought they would be better than the '07 team.

Of course this years team has no heart. They have been bullied and humilated and brought down everyday since the first day of two a days and they have had a hard time picking theirselves back up. No teenage boy can be expected to move forward strongly without ever getting a pat on the back.

Your bickering back and forth is getting tiresome and I really don't think either of you knows what is really going on.

Would you care to elaborate on that?

Wow, for an MBA grad to assess the cost of something as astronomical, it must have been out of sight.

I graduated in '79, when the tuition was $1,700.00. That was a big chunk of cash, given the fact that my sister was at St. Cecilia, and my dad built tires for a living. Shelling out another $600 for a sport played in the middle of the night, when MBA had a whole list of sports I could play at no further cost, was not going to happen.

Also, while tuition is still very high, MBA now has the fourth highest tuition in Nashville. There has been a specific effort to lower the inflation rate of tuition.

Who are the 3 schools whose tuition is higher than MBA's?????????

I was a bit off. MBA is third in Nashville in terms of cost of tuition. EHS and Harpeth Hall are higher. Too be fair, it should be noted that EHS, MBA, HH, and USN are all right there together.

The point of the original post is that MBA is not astronomically more expensive than other private schools. The cost of tuition at MBA is about $2500 more a year than BGA and BA. It's not a terrible stretch.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
