You just do not like South Greene and I have watched them play every game this week as well as all the others and they play very hard and I think EVERY team has a few of those players that use ugly words. Don't be a hater. God Bless

I don't think anybody's "hating" on SG. I do think if you polled people outside of the SG community, you would find that they have a certain reputation. I am a fan from afar. They are one of the scrappiest teams I've seen in a while, and my daughter used to play on a "scrappy team" from elsewhere in the area. Of course, you never want to hear the foul language, and I have heard it from other teams as well, but I think it comes from the emotional intensity that they play with, and that's what makes them good. That intensity. They are not afraid to foul, but that's why they give you 5 of them per game, right? I like to watch a team that hustles like that.

I don't hate South Greene. In fact, I have always respected them and their tenacity. When I coached we always had to go through them to get anywhere, and we had some success which has continued up to this season. However, some of the things they have done in the past and may be continuing to do are unacceptable to me. I will stop short of calling them a dirty team or a cheap shot team, but the hard fouls, marginal in game language, and general "thuggish" demeanor seem a bit over the top. They are talented enough and can let their play do their talking. You can play hard without the extra antics and still be successful.

I am sorry I was only referring to Coach17 I have read many of the post on all the east TN teams and Coach 17 always is negative about South Greene. I love the game and I love to watch teams like South Greene and Unicoi they always play hard but Coach 17 always wants to be negative towards South Greene. God Bless

And well, here we go into the final day of the Ladies Classic and I guess that everyone expected a Wilson Central and Morristown West battle. That was thrown right out of the water as a tanacious Sounth Greene team knocked off what some people in the East Tennessee area thought of as an unstoppable team (Morristown West). After all, West did knock off the Lady Rebels earlier in the year very handily.

So let's get this one started: Who has the upper hand? South Greene (who just knocked off a very talented team in West) or Wilson Central (defending Ladies Classic & TSSAA AAA state champs)?

Don't count South Greene out.

South Greene will be fine because the refs will be with them!

Don't start that garbage. I believe that West uses the same groupf officials during the regular season and they wore the Rebels out earlier. The game will be playeyd and may the best team win. Best of luck to a local team that has not had the opportunity to play for a championship since 1992.

Where to start...Technical Foul against SG bench...Free Throw violation against SG while West was shooting 1st of 1 and 1 to tie...Extra shot awarded to enable West to tie game with mere seconds left...Player from West not realizing score and fouling "intentionally" to send SG to line for win...I would say that is NOT home cooking...Just an observation from a fan at the game. No ties to anyone in game, actually there to see second semifinal game. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

The refs didn't lose that game for West, Johnny's arrogance did!! He coaches and plays that team like there are only two people on it. Shut Hall down and they will LOSE--ALWAYS!!

His team is out of control--playing "run and gun" and not slowing down the game, setting up plays, throwing picks and screens. They are as predictable as the day is long. West panicked when Hall sat the bench!! I predicted it in the IMAC thread and it will happen every single time unitl Johnny returns to good coaching. He was a better coach last year without Hall and Goins than he is this year with Hall and Goins. He used more of his team, had other plays, etc.

But I doubt he will change because that will mean he was wrong and he can't admit that.

First, congratulations to the sponsors and workers of the GreenBank Ladies Classic. It is a well organized tournament that has showcased some really good talent and coaching. I have been really impressed with Wilson Central, Dobyns-Bennett, Morristown West and South Greene during the tournament. Guess I'm a little surprised that Greeneville is not in the top four teams at this point. As bigboi discussed earlier, Morristown West seemed to fold last night. Didn't see Morristown West play team ball like the other teams and their coach didn't seem to have his head in the game after Hall got into foul trouble. Wilson Central is a joy to watch and I feel that they have an edge at this point to win the tournament. Hassell from Wilson Central is hard to handle on the court with her size and multiple talents! Wilson Central also has some other players that contribute greatly. Don't count out South Greene as they never quit and I was impressed at how their coach used the bench to upset Morristown West. South Greene's speed, team play, and determination will take them far this year. Looking forward to a fast paced and physical game tonight between Wilson Central and South Greene in the finals!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
