Smyrna vs. Oakland

Congrats Oakland, I'm a Senior at SHS, and I can't beleive this is how its all going to end. I guess 2 state championships back to back was spoiling everyone here. What a GREAT game, you can't give enough credit to Oakland. Even after all the doubt I had in them they pulled it out, they are truely a great team. It was a mirror match, and the team who made fewer mistakes one. I can't even begin to count the number of 3rd down and 4th down conversions that Oakland had, what a great clutch offense. I can only hope that Smyrna continues to be a great football team as I won't be here to watch and give the insider info I know any longer.

Smyrna Seniors, I'm so proud of what we all went through.

For those who don't know the class of 09 went 0-8 our freshmen year not recording a win, and for us to end on this note leaves a sour taste in our mouth, but not bitter.

Good luck Oakland, sharpen up those penalties, passing game, and pass defense, because I think the Owls will put it all to the test. Great Defense, Great rushing attack, thats all you need to win, 2 more games Oakland, one at a time Pats!

Now that I have thawed out I can say "CONGRATULATIONS " to the Oakland team.

Go rep for Rutherford co.

And to the Smyrna team ,thanks for a great season .No one thought you would get this far.

Cant wait til next year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must be kidding...............Smyrna was picked 1st or 2nd in every poll. Best returning group of players in Reg 4-5A was easily Oakland, second best group was either Smyrna or Blackman. Smyrna returned an excellent "D" group. Smyrna will easily have the best group next season and beyond. Truth is they under achieved early-on, but then got the act together. Team with best talent will generally win and this season.............top to bottom--Oakland had deepest talent base AND they won Region! All in all, the region panned out about like I thought it would. My only early prediction that did not come to past was Blackman and maybe Lebanon (they were simply crushed by injuries and lack of depth).

The "boro" District will be quite a battle next season.

This is for all the Smyrna football players and especially the seniors:

This season went amazingly good and its one i'll never forget!! we went further this season than anyone ever expected, BE PROUD!! For anyone who was at the game friday night knows that the score on that bored meant much more than two numbers, knows that the boys on that field worked harder than ever in the 20 degree weather>>The tears shed, hearts broke, and dreams not fully lived, things seen on friday night>>one thing i kept saying over and over between my tears was "we were so close, we were so close" and that i still believe...But on the bus ride home as i sat and looked at the men who were once boys i heard nothing but the sound of tears and prayers. Every man on that bus kept their head high because even though they realized what they just lost they also realized what they gained. They found a family, brothers who will be there for them no matter what, and an experience of a life time that they will never forget!! To all the seniors: Laith Al-Tamini, Jarvis Hicks, Tyler Eady, Nathan Cantrell, James Eichel, Dakota Brown, Cody Hagar, Chris Yoder, Sean McKay, and Westley Cadena are just a few: Smyrna will miss you and know everyone has enjoyed this journey with you and you will never be forgotten>>>you're always apart of the family.

Dakota Brown is just a junior so he'll be back.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
