wizard
arhp: How many teams did South Pittsburgh blow out last year? I don't remember South Pittsburgh even being in the picture late in the playoffs. Don't worry. This year's group of Ezell Harding Eagles may be a bit different. However, they are very talented and arguably have the best high school football coach in Tennessee.
73monster
as a former player for loretto and one who played the ezell game last year i feel i need to say that some of you (not all) are way off base. saying that ezell needs a police escort is way out of line. sure we were upset that ezell ran the score up but we aren't going to attack the players. second, while some of us (i am pointing the finger at my self here as well as others) played dirty (poke in the eyes on the bottom of a pile or or roughing you up a bit after we took you down legally) we never started anything. if we were wronged we retalitated. it wasn't right but we didn't crap off of anyone. third ezell face it you guys are just a reincarnation of cpa or brentwood academy. a private school that has several kids blessed with natural ability. next time ya'll start feeling like you are the best team in the state period call riverdale or maryville or portland and see how good you really are. fourth in my personal opion coach smith is a great coach but he runs the score up too much, way too much. sure it is great that shelley has the national record but i read in the tennessean last season where coach smith said that it was a once in a lifetime chance. how many touchdowns did shelly throw in the first half against clarksville academy? coach smith needs to realize that as good as it made his team feel it made the other team feel just as bad. just a little friendly advice coach, we had a coach who could have put a hundred points on the board every game but he pulled the starters after they were 35 points ahead. and eventually a team will come along that will run the score up on ya'll like ya'll did on everyone else. RealGoEagles
Hey Monster, I never knew football players were so sensitive. I played at Ezell, We went to the playoffs once and were beaten 73-0 That was the worst but there were some 67-0, 56-3 scores in there. Probably more blowouts than you ever dealt with. Do you know what we did after the game? We shook hands with the other team. We moved onto the next game (even if there wasn't a huge chance of us winning it.) Do you know why? It was our job to keep them from scoring.
collarbone
I hear some say that Ezell lost athletes and that we're too cocky, and i'll be completely honest, most of if not all of our twelve seniors, 9 of who start on both sides of the ball, don't expect to lose. Coach Smith has tried his hardest to make us understand that we're no invincible and that he hopes we're right about all this. About the athletes thing, AJ Blackburn will be one of the best if not the best receiver in the state, mark my words. For the guy who said "no electronics allowed coach can't communicate to the players on the field" What are you talking about? Does everyone think we have headsets in our helmets, that's absurd. For those of you who would like to justify our talent by making excuses, go ahead. We just want to prove to everyone that we have what it takes. Chakra20
<73monster > second, while some of us (i am pointing the finger at my self here as well as others) played dirty (poke in the eyes on the bottom of a pile or or roughing you up a bit after we took you down legally) we never started anything. Seems like thats a contrasting statement We Played Dirty but we didnt start anything. Anyways Loretto is known for playing dirty, and also my statement about the police escort was only half sacrcasm since they will have one

Loretto does play dirty football. And there will be more than one police escort for Ezell's football team.
tiredbbmom
Why don't we leave last year's games where it belongs, in the past. I hope that both of the teams can approach this game with a good attitude and come on the field to play a good game. Cheap shots are taken all the time by every team out there. To say a team doesn't do it would not be realistic. I don't like it but unfortunately it has become a part of the game at all levels. It's not going to change unless we as parents, coaches, and officials teach kids at an early age that this just isn't acceptable behavior. The win at any cost attitude is drilled into our kids heads from youth leagues to pro ball. Parents and coaches have to share that blame and also deal with the consequences that idealogy brings. I've watched Loretto for a lot of years and leave the game through the same gate as the visiting team. I've never seen cause for a police escort but we have some fine officers on the force who would be there should you ever need them. We're generally a good bunch of folks. Well if you watched the sa,e game i watched last year Loretto tries to intimidate the other team. Late Hits Personall fouls trash talking the whole nine yards from last year. I can understand some of it when ur down fourty and they are still p[assin id prolly try to rip the guys head off too, but it doesnt change the fact that they were doin that in the first quarter when they were winning

tiredbbmom
Chakra, I understand how you feel but it's up to the refs to control the game. Late hits and personal fouls should result in penalities or players thrown out, whether it's Loretto or Ezell. Trash talking and trying to intimidate an opponent goes on all the time. Just look at this board! As I said, last year's game is over and done. There's nothing that can be done to change what happened. I hope both teams will conduct themselves in a manner to make us all proud. I'm going to be cheering for my team and having a good time at a game.
