wish we had this kind of thought proccess at east........ a bad situation that I am afraid will get worse! I think we just ran off a good coach.

Lets hope it does for the players!

Season is coming fast, they need to get this settled regardless who is at the helm. The players deserve it!!!!!!!!!

Since I've started blogging my opinion on LC football I might as well keep giving my thoughts as I see them (until enough want me to stop). I talked to Sparky (Justin) last week and man what a specimen. He??™s every bit of 6??™1 215 and just 15 years old. The thing that impressed me the most was that during our short conversation he must have said yes sir and no sir 20 times. I asked him where he was wanted to play next year and he said anywhere the coaches need me to play (seemed very humble). I kept flashing back to the David Lipscomb freshmen game this year when he and Landon Graham punished them. Another kid worth mentioning that caught my eye is McClain; he has to be 6??™3??? or better and 250 or 260 lbs. He comes from a long line of football players with his Dad (Ed), his uncle (Gordon) and his grandfather (Charlie). I look forward to him having a coming out year next season.

Good to hear about Justin. He is something. What a backfield.........Graham, Sparkman and Sherman. What a pair of linebackers......Graham and Sparkman.....speed and size. Course with sparkman DE wouldn't be bad either.......they are both athletes. From what I hear and read, Sherman seems to be coming out. I have heard the numbers in the gym...........amazing. Even though Lewis is rebuilding............the horses are there and ready. If it comes together........Lewis just might be one heck of a surprise. Everything is sounding positive so far. But as you have said......Leadership and Attitude needs to show up, which I think it will. What a backfield that would be........Earth, Wind and Fire.

Graham and Sparkman have both been working hard in the weight room. Both are making great strides. From what i heard sherman is doing great in the weights also.In matter of fact i talked to sherman the other day and he told me that the team was working hard and he said that they were going to shock alot of people including the teams they will be playing. From what i have heard from everyone this should be a good year for lewis county.Yes i agree. That would be a AWSOME backfield.Sherman, sparkaman, and graham. Those 3 will be the key to the O this year. All 3 are great backs. All are strong, fast and can block.I think darshay will rotate at back but i dont see him starting over any of those 3.He will be playing alot of D.I think they will save him for that. But good luck panthers keep working hard

I thought they would have. Must have some other things going on. They have some strong kids. They do have a 160+lb young man that got a 300 on the bench which is incrediable for that size. They have some deceit squats from what I hear. It is a young team it looks like. I'll see if I can find out.........I have a friend who's son plays for LCHS.

why did lewis county not come to the district lifting competition last night?

Would have been a wasted trip I would think. Contrary to what some people have put on here for weight totals, LC is nowhere close to 20 guys being over 250. And just one, Sherman (a running back) is over 300 on bench. Weight room is important, very important, but a competition based solely on weights wouldn't benefit LC right now. Hopefully it still turned out pretty good. Keep working hard Panthers

I Agree with you Pantherfan. From what i heard(A good source)They have 10 over 250 with one of those 10(sherman)doing 300.They are working very hard in the weight rooom.Heard the numbers are coming up.Can't wait to hear the new maxes of some of the players. From what i heard from people a kid by the name of will riley is coming along pretty good.He played through middle school and was a terror. The kid would hit anything that moved. He is a great kid and i could see him getting ALOT of playing this year.We all know that the coaches are going to have all the stars on the feild this year.I think he will help alot of D,because of his passion for the game.Anyone heard anything about the weight lifting comp that took place?Any numbers?Wanted to see how our kids matched up...Good luck panthers keep working hard /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

For such a small school those numbers over 250 are great. The upcoming season is going to be one of great interest. Can see a 6-4 season on one hand, but then you think of the effort and determination that is being put out you could see a 9-1/8-2 also. Its been along time since LCHS has played this kind of schedule, and then add the number of seniors that they lost last year. Its an unknown, but with the number of young men and the amount of effort it sounds like being put out, and then sprinkle in great coaching, the season could be one of surprise not only for the community, but in the new district also. The group this year has to face one of the biggest challenges in years for Lewis.

The stat pack believes that this team will surprise. At the beginning we wasn't sure how it was going to be, but after following on here, we all believe that good things will happen. Course you can't have the injury bug hit, but with what they have now.............good things will happen.

All of you seniors its your time to step up and lead.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
