Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

72---Do we have any kids going to any camps this year ? Does it appear any on the

defensive side has put on an inch or two and are a step or two faster ?

The game with Austin East is a good schedule. East gets to find out early the things

they need working on to be ready to compete in their main schedule.

Like you , I am expecting to see East field a good team this year .

I know that in the weight romm, Penalba,Lynch and my kid have all had huge bumps in their max outs. I know Helton and Penalba will be in the 1000 lb. club. I have not seen any of the guys during the offseason so I really do not know about size. We have a few new faces. Joe Ridley lived here and played youth ball, moved to Oklahoma(I think) and is back. He is around 6'6 290. We also picked up a kid (Steele?) from Jeff co. He played pretty good against East last year. Other than that, I don't know alot.

Who will be the D-line at East this year?

That will be the question. Goose will be at one tackle for sure and the other tackle and ends will be up for grabs. There is talent there but I could not begin to speculate on who may move over from offense or who may win the jobs. I think we may see jeff fields compete for an end spot and haun at a tackle spot but who knows. The picture will be a little more clear after spring practice.

The Dline actually played well last year or at least above expectations. The team is as strong or stronger than last year. There is a lot of talent there. They lost some key guys but the staff does a good job of getting playing time for the backups and having them game ready. I think East will be down just a bit overall on D but should be a very dangerous team when they have the ball. To answer your question, YES, they will be strong.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
