Stone Memorial's Destiny, Leslie. Taylor vs Loudon's Mardessa and Janell. They all played for the Tennessee Raiders this summer. Bragging rights on the line Friday night at Stone. /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Stone will win, but i believe Loudon will give them all they want.

If Stone plays to their potential they will dominate. Stopping Mardessa will be the key to a win.

Janelle is the one that hurt them. She was on fire!!! Ended the night with 19 points. Stone couldnt stay with her.

Stone was also out coached. Coach Collins slow the game down and Stone didnt have an answer. All they wanted to do was jack threes and no one was hitting except Kristen. Where was Destiny last night!!!

stone seemed to of been out classes in every phase of the game.. it was close early but loudon's shooter (#20) don't kown the names of the loudon girls but she didn't even play most the first half because of foul trouble. stone girls are going to have a tough time pulling off another district championship

Stone definitely struggled Friday night. However, give credit where credit is due. Loudon absolutley shot the lights out of it. I know Loudon is a good team, however, I watched them play this year and they didnt shoot as well as they did Friday night. Stone just happen to have an off night and Loudon was on fire.

I will say this though, if Stone wants to get better, they need to have other offensive options besides just shooting the three. Friday night was a perfect example, they werent hitting from outside. They went inside at the beginning of the game and got Janelle in foul troube, once she left the game, Stone just abandoned the inside game and starting shooting from outside. Needless to say, they werent effective. During the second half, they again went inside and were able to score. I'm not saying go inside everytime, but they can use the inside game to open up the outside game and vice versa.

I'm sure they will get better during the season. Hopefully when districts roll around, everything will come together and Stone can repeat as district champs.

Agreed, Agreed, and I believe she was mostly floating around the 3 point line. I really wish that I had a shot chart on this game. I would bet that 85% of her shots came from beyond the arc, and the rest from about 15 feet. If they are falling its great, but they weren't so... well we see the results. And it wasn't just her it was the whole team. I really wish they would utilize taylor more this season. I really enjoy her toughness and lack of fear in the post. If Stone learns to use their inside game with Taylor and Destiny they can repeat, but until they do i am afraid we will be seeing more of Friday night.

Also great job to the Loudon team and coaching staff.

i just do not see stone changing their whole basketball style mid-season. yes it would make them a better team but that doesnt mean its that easy. i thought that the #10 for loudon did an outstanding job controlling the tempo of the game and shot really well... with that being said loudon is a tough place to win at so i think loudon will get the sweep and will hold 1st place in the district heading into tournaments. not saying stone cant win at the tournaments but i dont think that this game was a coincident... loudon seemed in better shape and had the ability to slow down or speed up the game at will.... i am not a coach and have never claimed to be but can someone explain something to me.... how come when kristin hit three straight threes she comes out of the game??? or why taylor is on the bench in the fourth quarter??? did these girls tap out because of fatigue or is this strategy by the coach?

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
