Jay Gore coached at Hillsboro with Aydelott. Left when he did and went to Brentwood where he is now. I don't think anyone that was at Hillsboro with Coach A. has a chance. I have a feeling that the new coach will be someone who is young and black. That is not meant as a racial statement just getting someone the players can relate to.Also someone who the principal feels comfortable with.

If that is the case then its racial on the principal's part. did't know that the principal could be comfortable with anyone.

Well, with that reasoning, since Phillips withdrew his name, Fite will win the job.

This isn't TC Williams man. There will be heck to pay if they hire a candidate based on race over the best possible candidate.

Could be, most all people what someone that can feel comfotable with though.

That is very true. That is why Blade wasn't well received. 3 years ago, it seemed "everyone" wanted one of Aydelott's assistants to be hired. Now, some of them are again in the running along with some of Blade's assistants. It will be interesting to see what Principal Manuel decides to do. I just hope he doesn't listen to Scott Brunette's advice.

Brunette should make the call since he is Director of Athletics. He should know who can coach and who best fits what metro schools need. I do not know many principals who are qualified to make athletic decisions unless they have experience in coaching the sport in question.

I don't disagree that many principals are not qualified to make athletic decisions. However, I have no confidence in Scott Brunette to make that decision either.

How many volunteer coaches did the Burros have last year?

They had two assistant coaches in addition Fite that didn't teach full-time anywhere in MNPS if that is what you mean.

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
