district play starts today for two teams, any thoughts:

SC at Fairview today, Fairview at SC tuesday:

i think SC gets two wins, and wins big. fairview doesnt have much after watching them play once last week and talking to the coaches. they have no pitching and even there #1 from last year struggled in his start last week. They have no answer for Pieratt and SC should score enough runs to win the game he doesnt pitch as well.

Hello..Just an old washed up sycamore player here to clear up a few comments about sycamore's coaching staff.

First the head coach is Johnny Staggs and prior to being named head coach he had been an assistant(and a very good one at that) since 2005. Daniel smiley played college ball at roane state and graduated in 2004. Matt carrigan graduated in 2007 and played college ball at Freed hardman university.( Not sure if i spelled it right.) Coach staggs should be a good head coach bc he knows the game well and is what i would consider to be a players coach. Like i said im an old washed up ball player from Sycamore, got to looking at coacht and read this thread. Sure brings back some great memories when bull, myself, crafword and knight just to name a few, played for Sycamore. Here is hoping Sycamore goes all the way and good luck to Staggs and staff this year. Also, if all else fails...get the BEAT BOX going guys.

/huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> So Fairview isn't playing during thier spring break? Dang. We sheduled 5 JV and 4 Varsity during ours.

Harpeth got drilled by Overton yesterday 9-1. Foriest took the loss. Harpeth shot themselves in the foot with fielding errors, baserunning mistakes and not getting timely hitting. Poor baserunning is Harpeth's achille's heel so far with a young team.

i was off yesterday so i drove to dover to see the SC-fairview game. Pieratt pitched 5 but was not as impressive in the past. someone in the stands said he was having a little bit of a sore arm and it showed, velocity was not the same, but the breaking balls were still nasty. SC won 13-12 in an exciting game, but if SC could play defense this would have been a mercy rule game. fairview played just as bad on defense and got a few timely hits to keep the game close. fairview didnt pitch their number 1 and he should throw today in the game at fairview. i see SC winning and going up 2-0 in the district. this is going to be a long season in fairview.

fairview beatsa SC 10-0 in 5 innings on wednesday. they split the series. fairview threw their number 1 and he gave up one hit to Pieratt which was a blopper to the opposite field. In the two games it was clearly apparent that SC has Pieratt and absolutely no pitching to go with him. Their defense was terrible both nights. If Fairview could have play a little defense in the first game they could be 2-0.

SC has no chance to win any games that Pieratt doesn't pitch.

going back to the 2 leftys beating sycamore purcell might can that other lefty got ripped off the mound in the 2nd game of the series. i believe 6 runs in 2 innings of work

get your facts right, Pucell beat sycamore twice , once durning the season and the first game in the district turny , the other leftly pitched a complete game in the final game in the turny and beat sycamore given up 2 runs on three hits. I wouldnt call that being ripped off the mound.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
