I see where this was misinterpretted, but I agree, lets move on.....

I would be curious to know who you guys even expect to see in the final eight at M-buro in each class....

Clarkrange is the favorite at present. But they will have to remain calm and and cool and play as a team, or Jackson County will beat them when it counts, history shows that.

For the above comment, I wasn't aware that there is a Leonard's team? What county is that?

Thanks Indian for your logic. Some posters are so quick to jump on to the wording that other posters use. I was talking about the team that Laken was playing on this summer, and just like you were able to realize, I was complimenting the play of the James girl.

I believe if you look back at other posts, you will find that I have never, nor will I ever, bash or talk down about another player or team. Some posters like to hide behind these names as they spew out their venom. More power to you, but I will take the other road less traveled.

Isn't that Leonard's "daddy" making those absurd comments. They beat some school in Florida that is the best in the world and no one else they play is even in their league, huh. Funny then that they've dropped two to Clarkrange and in both games never lead, two to Upperman, and one to Riverdale. Imagine what these schools would have done in Florida. And as far as history shows...Lamar Rogers is 29-14 overall against JC so history shows that he has won twice more than he's lost to this school. Currently, according to rankings in the Tennessean, Clarkrange is number 2 in the state in all classes coming in behind Memphis Central. CR is also nationally ranked. I guess we will see in the end what history shows.

KGM, since you think that was an absurd comment, please tell me who on Clarkrange's team will play for LSU or Wake Forest?

My point was that I saw Jackson County girls play at a different level that particular game which caused them to beat a very great 3A team. We haven't brought that game against your girls yet.........

No offense meant, but CR brings a different defense than most schools, as does JC...Offensively JC may not bring that game against CR.

Yes, Options86, I will agree with you that Clarkrange's matchup zone is a good one. Both times that JC and Clarkrange have played, it has been an absolute battle defensively. Will JC find a way to beat Clarkrange offensively? That is the million dollar question.

Gibson Co. has everyone back as well except the 1 post player (#55 Jennilee Pate). However, she is replaced by a transfer from Obion Co. (Aubrey Reedy) who is better and can do more things than Pate. Yes, Gibson Co. did get blown out in Murfreesboro last year, but when a team shoots 64% from the floor, what do you expect? I think the AA state tournament is more wide open for any team to win than the other 2 classes. You have Upperman, Marshall, McMinn, Gibson who return practically everyone from last years state tournament teams.

GC Pioneer, you are right, this class is very wide open. It is going to be interesting to see who the elite 8 will be in Class AA. I have to disagree with you on one thing, Marshall County lost 3 starters from last year so really, we did not return most of our player that had experience. We have 4 young ladies that bascially never touched the floor last year that are now either starting or coming off the bench to get a lot of playing time . This team has surprise a lot of folks this year because no one expected these young ladies to be sitting on a 25-0 record. I know folks say we have a weak district, but 9 of those games were against good 3A schools. This class is wide open but I really feel that McMinn Central will be the team to beat. I was most impressed with this team last year besides our team( Marshall).

That's really another silly comment. Who on JC will ever play for LSU or Wake Forrest??? No one. There's no "magic wand" which placed JC in a trance when they played at this mystical level you believe you saw. Any of the good upper Cumberland teams could have won that tournament which, by the way, doesn't mean anything in Tennessee. JC has dropped five games, four of them to two opponents both of which won by a total of 19 points. That's reality.

Here are my pre-district tournament predictions. Lots can happen in a month.

Class A - North Greene, Oliver Springs, Clarkrange, Jackson Co., Forrest, Wayne Co., Bradford, Middleton

Class AA - South Greene, Seymour, McMinn Central, Upperman, Marshall Co., CPA, Gibson Co., Mitchell

Class AAA - Morristown West, Oak Ridge, Cleveland, Riverdale, Wilson Central, Hillsboro, Millington, Memphis Central

Let me remind you that you were the one that got offended when I talked about the caliber of the players on that Florida team. I was just asking you to explain to me where that caliber was on your team? I'm not the one that is bragging, I'm just asking you to back your opinions up which you can't.

Pride goeth before the fall.... remember those words...

Where's the caliber of talent on CR? Are you kidding? Of course I know JC can beat the LA Sparks as well and keep Candace Parker in single digits and probably single handedly win a gold medal at the Olympics for the good 'ole USA so who am I to point out that both CR and Upperman have beaten them by 19 points in the two games that each of them have played. You insulted every team in this entire area when you said that no one around here had anything near the talent level of that team in Florida. That is pure BS and you know it.

/flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" /> GC Pioneer I REALLY enjoy your posts. No only do you know a lot about basketball but you also keep it real.

As far as who will win the AA Gold Ball, no one knows because surprises happen after the regular season. Good teams play one game at a time. Getting to the State is an accomplishment but remember you have to get there first . There is no magic wand that says because you finish the season with a perfect record - you get a free pass to the State. At the beginning of post season play, all records are 0-0 and in the end the 8 best teams punch their tickets.

As far as McMinn Central being the team to beat - that is one person's opinion., because there are a lot of great teams in AA. Good teams are tested by the quality of teams that they play. Marshall County doesn't want a pity party - about who left last year and the fact that certain girls didn't get to play. - The Tigerettes are focused on today and winning one game at a time - not what happened in the past. They know that hard work defines who they are as a team. Best of luck to all the teams in their post season play! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
