we only bench and clean at this competition. giles county has been in one each of the last three years and won the team competition each year. we like to compete with ourselves and other teams. someone else is always working trying to outwork you.

Giles County has some strong boys. I think Marshall County will also do well, Coach Thomas stresses the weightroom. I also think Spring Hill will represent well Scharsh was at Riverdale at one time so he knows how a team should lift. Also, don't let Lewis County's enrollment fool you... they will represent too.

giles dominated the lifting competition last night. boykins did over 300 pounds in clean and bench! he is a chance to pass kendall "mookie" dangerfield (now at mtsu) as the strongest player in gchs history.

giles won 6 of the 9 weight classes: winners were boykins, tobias, josh smith, josh brewer, b.j. morris, and damien reynolds.

the other 3 weight classes were won by a dude from cornersville, a strong guy from lincoln county, and a huge dude from spring hill.

Pretty impressive on GC's part.

Only SH and GC were the only winners from 12AA /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Who else from the new 12AA showed up?

both josh and tobias are really strong. josh looks like an olympic lifter when he does his clean... i think he got 275.

the results were posted on our website last year. i bet they will be this year to.

Team order of finish by total pounds lifted:

1st - Giles County 8960 lbs

2nd - Marshall County 7970 lbs

3rd - Spring Hill 7800 lbs

4th - Lincoln County 7765 lbs

5th - Hickman County 7180 lbs

6th - Page 6715 lbs

7th - Cornersville 6050 lbs

Would like to see what happens if the squat is added. Forrest High School will host one on March 21st (squat included), also Spring Hill will be hosting a tournament in April (squat included). Wonder if Giles will give us all another shot at them with squat included. They are REALLY strong on clean and bench!!

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
