Div I or Div II...Who's better?

I might also point out the 4 you named are sons of coaches/wrestlers and very likely could have had the same success had they attended their local DI school. Plus you somehow missed...Matt Keller who was not the son of a coach and attended the DI school he was zoned for.

Pardon me for interjecting facts.

Sorry to leave out Keller - wasn't intentional. I do remember a couple thousand posts about whether Keller was a better wrestler than Simpson, or was it Leen.

The question was "Div I or D II...................." and not whose daddy coached, where they live and hypotheticals about where kids may or may not have gone to school if their circumstances were different. Those aren't facts; that's speculation.

To paraphrase...

You said-

DII was better because 4 of the most recent TN AA's came from DII.

I said-

They were not a product of DII, they were a product of their fathers' coaching...and that's not speculation.

I'm not going to step into the fray of DI vs DII. I think it's pointless. Let's argue about something else.

So it's nurture versus nature?

Al Gore or Professor Backwards?

Going weight class to weight class, the top 2 between DII and DI was pretty even...

Looking at the very best, just the champions drove more of a spread...

103 DI

112 DII

119 DII

125 DII

130 DII

135 DI

140 DII

145 DII

152 DII

160 DII

171 DI

189 DI

215 DI

285 DII

The DII's have it 9-5.

As if it isn't obvious with everyone who bites on the topic, you ought to disclose where you went to school and where your kids go to school. The correlation between those factors and who you select as the best division has to be 1:1. We need a 3rd party arbiter who is completely neutral, exremely knowledgeable about Tennessee high school wrestling and who everyone would trust to be completely unbiased. That would be me and I believe smwwrest is incredibly correct in his predictions.

Might as well close this thread and open a non controversial one about Baylor and Bradley.

103: Cole Moseley has defeated Bryan Alvarado, so I would say that this one goes to DII

112: Zach Watson DII

119: Daniel Baucke is very tough DII

125: Michael Hooker, Nuff said DII

130: Cole Hayes DII

135: David Graham DI

140: Cody Austell has defeated the Seneca DII

145: Chanse Hayes is very tough DII

152: Justin Cash DII

160: Patrick Marchetti DII

171: Jake Young DI

189: Cameron Croy DI

215: Josh Patton (rip) DI

Heavy: Carrethers cant be beat DII

So there you have it, since mine are completely accurate, DII would win 10-4

I think it should be state law that Bradley wrestles Baylor... it should be declared robbery that we dont get to see this epic match xD

whatever your reasons for separating dI and dII, its clear these teams are and have been on the top of the list for the past decade. and looking back in the past few years especially to see how close these matches would've been...
