Congrats Coach Miller! Thanks for posting this Joe, I would not miss it.

Could this event get Hap off the farm?

From Clevelandbanner.com:

"Al Miller,

For more than 30 years, Al served as a head coach at Cleveland High School. Miller started as head coach in 1977 and stepped back to assistant coach in 2006.

Miller was head coach at Cleveland High School longer than any other.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Miller was raised in Chattanooga and graduated from Red Bank High School.

During his high school years he played football, baseball and participated in wrestling. He was coached under Dr. John Farr.

After graduating from high school, Miller walked onto the wrestling team at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he participated for three years and earned a letter while spot starting. In college he was coached under Jim Morgan.

During his college years, Miller earned extra money coaching the Highland Park Boy's Club wrestling team. He also helped organize the Chattanooga Youth Wrestling League.

In 1973, Miller was introduced to Cleveland wrestling coach Duane Schriver. Miller accepted a coaching job at Cleveland High School under Schriver's direction.

When Miller moved to Cleveland, he told Schriver they community needed a youth program if they were going to compete with Chattanooga area teams in wrestling. During the early years, he coached the Boy's Club Team, the middle school team, the high school team and started and coached the Black and Blue Wrestling Club for off-season Olympic-style wrestling.

During his 30 years as head coach, Miller won more region and state championships than any other coach or sport. His teams won 382 matches, while losing 167. Miller coached in Bradley County's first NCAA All American competition.

Miller has been very involved in USA wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States where he served as a Tennessee state chairman for 18 years.

Miller has served on the National Junior Olympic coaching staff and coached U.S. teams in tours to Russia, Bulgaria, France, England, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. Miller is scheduled to accompany a team to Greece in the summer.

Miller has been inducted in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, the Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame and the Red Bank Hall of Fame.

Miller married his high school sweetheart, Pam. The two have been married for 37 years. They have two sons Brett, 27, and Pete, 22.

Miller coached both of his sons, who both earned all-state honors."

Star Raider's son played an important role in his high school having its highest fininsh in the individual tournament this weekend. There is no doubt that some of the love for the sport the family shares probably has something to do with Dave's coach. Its cool to watch the effect that coaches can have on kids they may never meet.

    • AE has a lot of new transfers and a very good incoming freshman class to mess with the current players.  That's why I'm saying don't sleep on AE.  Many are thinking they can't get back to their winning ways but I think this 2025 team will open a lot of eyes and let the state know, AE won't be an easy win anymore.

    • Correct information on your part Waco regarding your years and wins with no generalities. if Fulmer had not been fired, he would have easily been retired for several  years by now. It’s a new regime at TN participating in the deepest football conference in America.
    • Take your own advice Mr. Bill.  Memphis should stay out of the national news if it doesn't want people knowing about their "business."  SP's classes of '25, 26 and 27 contributed as well.  At the beginning of the season, we weren't sure if SP could make it out of the 2nd or 1st round in 2024 due to only 2 or 3 seniors only 1 of which played much.  We were extremely proud of that 2024 team for what they accomplished between game 1 and game 15.
