The old barn.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Also....shots fired, shots fired!!!

I have been down to the Old Barn in Memphis, It is not the best place in the world but for some, but it is all they have and they make good use of it! The Barn doesn't have the lighting or the fine surface that we see on our courts here in West Tenn. It is a throw back to the old times when you played on the floor that you had in the old gyms and that makes it a great place to play. I was inspired by the play of the girls on the floor in that old gym. It made us look bad because you have to always adapt to the playing conditions and we didn't that night. The floor had dead spots that made the ball fall away from your hand on the dribble down the court. The lights flickered and went out, some came back on!! Yes, you had to go through a metal detector coming in and the toilet paper was chained with a lock in the bathrooms. The number one thing was the game and you still have play it the same way the other team does. Let us be thankful that we have fine places to play and others have a place to play also. Everyone that was there that night came away alive and unhurt. No shots were fired!!! If you go, you better be ready to play ball, because they will be ready.

Anybody got an update? Tinkle is not coming in clear here in my neck of the woods!

This game never really close. It was 23-3 at the end of the first quarter. All 3 points were off of FT's. Gibson Co.'s defensive pressure was awesome. Rechis was held to only 12 points tonight. She never really got going. Jennings played GREAT defense on her. Butler finished with 27 points, Reedy 13, and Griffin 12. There was several others in single digits. The mercy rule was in effect in the fourth quarter. IF Gibson Co. keeps playing like this, we could very well wind up playing for a state championship.

A NOTE OF INTEREST!!!! Upperman and McMinn Central play each other in sub-state. One of them won't be in Murfreesboro. That puts 2 of the big 4 teams out!

Region 8AA Championship - Mitchell 60, BTW 40

Congrats to Gibson Co. on another excellent game. The Lady Pioneers are playing very well right now and look ready for a deep run in the state tournament. As the old saying goes, their offense puts folks in the seats but their defense wins games - big. They won't have much problem with BTW, and it's on to Murfreesboro.

Best of luck to Westview as they travel to Mitchell. I have a sneaking suspicion that this game will be really close. Hope to see the Lady Chargers play as they can and pull out the win.

everything is happening just right for the lady pioneers this year! two of the main threats will be gone and hopefully for the first time in like 4 state tournament appearances, gc will NOT have to play the future state champs in the first stinkin round! gosh if they could of have milan's bracket from last year...

Butler is still rainin three balls! girl has some serious range too... playin unconcious like that will make it tough on teams to beat ya! poor btw lol...

BTW is well aware of how good Gibson County is, being they played them last year in the Sectionals. Coming off an emotional overtime win last night, BTW played their worse ball of the post season. Plagued by foul trouble all night, three starters fouled out in the last 4 minutes of a three point ball game. Mitchell was able to opening it up in the end. BTW understands the wall they will be up against but regardless of who you play, the game still has to be played and I can assure you BTW will show up and play the game. They know the entire town will be at the game at least an hour before tip off, all they ask is to allow the kids to play the game and it be dictated on the court and as all ways the best team will win. Gibson County was a good team last year and based on their record and margin of victory they are even better team this year. I plan on attending the game and hope to see a good game. Being I have seen BTW a couple of times they have a couple of D1 players and should put up a fight against the ???Best AA team in the state!???

. By the way the Ol??™ Barn has been renovated with a new floor, bleachers, and lights. It is amazing how a team that goes through medal detectors everyday, walk to school in the poorest zip code in the country still manage to make it to the sectionals the last four years while still competing in a city with over 40 other high schools. BTW takes the kids that suppose to be there and make them winners. By the way they lost their PG over the Christmas break to a torn ACL and still manage to make it back at least this far. I hear they have four seniors and all four will sign to play ball somewhere next year, two to D1??™s, including the one with a torn ACL. So show the lil??™ inner city team some hospitality and good luck to you all!!

GC has gone from the point of playing well to just all out Dominating their opponents /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> WOW- 23-3 after one. Amazing what good defense will do for a team and the Lady Pioneers are bringing it on each and every play. Again just dominating three opponents in the regionals without any trouble - congrats and good luck vs. BTW-

The 'view' this Saturday evening will be from Mitchell High in memphis.

if NSHD can come out to the playing of Handsome Jimmy's "Boogie Woogie Boy' and get the "view's crowd" fired up and on their feet /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> , then the Lady chargers have an excellent chance to make it two teams "again" from 13AA in the BORO! /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

Good luck to GC and "da View" in sub-state play. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
