playtough
Who has the best shot at winning the state? Any unhitable pitchers in the mix? I don't think anyone is unhitable for the teams that will be in the boro. Pigeon Forge surely has to been one of the favorites simply because of pitching and upperclassmen. But really, all 8 teams should be favorites because it is not easy to get there, at least not in middle or east tennessee.
catholicfan
Who has the best shot at winning the state? Any unhitable pitchers in the mix? Knoxville Catholic has won the last 9 in a row and has done it all with bunches of runs and strong pitching. They seem to have the right mix and are on a roll. All the teams appear to be poised to do well, it should be an interesting State for AA this year. Knoxville Catholic wins 14-

Anders, ace pitcher and clean up hitter, is out with Tommy John surgery, and All-District catcher Broussard is out with elbow injury. Good luck to all the teams. We've all worked hard to get where we are.

Those inner city Memphis schools can play football and basketball, but forget about anything else (except maybe track).

playtough
Only the Sub-state game was easy.........every game to get to that point; however, was much tougher. If you are top 2 in your district, all you have to do is win the Monday Region Semi, and you are in the state. The teams from those 2 regions can set up their pitching rotation starting on Tuesday. USJ has done it for several years. Everyone else across the state is usually having to throw their ace on Friday just to have a chance to get there. You say every other game, but in reality there is only ONE other game which is Monday. Also, this arguement has nothing to do with the quality of Dyer County and Dyersburg's teams, only that they have a much easier path to get to the state and have their full pitching staff rested and ready to go. THIS IS A HUGE ADVANTAGE NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT.

ironman2020
No doubt. Those inner city Memphis schools can play football and basketball, but forget about anything else (except maybe track). There is no doubt that EVERY other region has a tougher time. As has been said, all you have to do is win the Monday game. I guarantee you that if you had to play Gibbs in east tennessee with Willis pitching or even Unicoi this year with Rice it would have been a lot tougher time and you would have been lucky for one to make it to state. Pigeon Forge did basically just that, beating Willis last night in the sectional and beating Headley (Unicoi's #2) Wednesday in the Region Final. I wouldn't necessarily call it luck, but you have to play big in big games is East TN just to get to state.
