Next years district will be full of potential college players:

Fulton: Boyd,Steele,Campbell

AE: Pryor??

Carter: Wilson

GP: Maples

Union: Vittetoe,Smith,Cox

Fulton will once again be the favorite. Don't know with AE and its Point Guard leaving. Carter has LESTER!! GP lost a lot. Gibbs is the wild card with our Tigers. Union County might be the only team to push Fulton.

I will go with Fulton. Their guard play is going to be dangerous for opposing teams.

Fulton will not only be the favorite for their District, but also the favorite for Region and State. Thats what happens when you win back to back.

Carter - I wouldn't count on them to win this district. They have 2 studs, but not enough supporting cast. That soon to be sophomore impressed me more so then Lester at their scrimmages this past week. He seems like he has it dialed in and has something to prove. Lester seems bored and frustrated with the help around him. The best 1-2 punch athletically in Knoxville though.

AE - As of now I believe Pryor is inelgible due to academics. If he gets in summer or night school he can fix that. AE will be competitive as always, but not better then Fulton.

Union Co - A big difference in your district from last year. Thats a big change especially with a new coach.

The rest of the district will be fighting for the rest of the spots.

If anyone thinks AE will ever be down is crazy. They stock pile talent over in East Knoxville. I saw there JV team play season in the county tournament, they dressed 8, and still were running up and down the court. Their JV team would have beat a majority of the varsity teams in East Tn. They are very athletic. I'm sure Pryor will find a way to become eligible by the start of the season. Until someones shows they can defeat them in the regular season, Fulton and AE will always be at the top of their district. Carter should finish 3rd. Don't know anything about Union other than their coach leaving a team with 4 returning starters to coach a school that won 6 games. But if they are as good as I hear then they are the darkhorse in that district.

  • 2 weeks later...

Why would he not wait and see who the new coach was going to be.? If Union County keeps the other players I think will still be in good shape. I think you will see some changes to the transfer qualifications for Varsity Football and Basketball real soon. By the way I think Fulton is head and shoulders above East TN. AA teams at this point if they keep the squad I saw this week.

Saw Fulton at a summer camp the other day, they are going to be loaded this year again, AE is going to be young, the sophomore from Carter is impressive, will probaly be better than Wilson by his senior year, Union Co. losing the Smith kid will really hurt, have not seen Gibbs, Pigeon Forge or GP, even though i have heard GP has a excellent guard that transferred in, but the Falcons will be in the running for another GOLD ball, they are going to be tough, the Campbell kid is good and Steele is to, Coach Wright should be smiling from ear to ear.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
