pirate55
Most of the guys worked on their own. They had some former players help coach. It's great to see the players in the 2nd dead week out running sprints at the stadium steps on their own. The coaches aren't allowed to participate in any drills. I think that's why you didn't see South in the 7 on 7 because they didn't have any volunteers to help coach. With DB's great tradition there was not a lack of quality volunteer coaches. I know my favorite player was out last week and this week running the sprints and steps with the skill players. WOW!! I love DB football. I played football at a Sullivan co. school and it makes me appreciate the facilities, coaches and support DB receives from the community... ArtVandalay
Indians opener in 7 weeks and 3 days in Knoxville against Farragut. That is bigger than any game in early October to the Indians, because it is Game 1. Anybody looked at Farraguts schedule? DB & Oak Ridge to start out the season, later against Riverdale and then Maryville.... wow, that's not easy. I hear the O-Line has really come around from the start of Spring practice. The Indians are Junior loaded and the Frosh Class is very deep & talented. Roll Tribe Roll

crawdad
Unless something has changed in the last few weeks Volman, he will be attending Dobyns-Bennett.I expect him to be an outstanding QB prospect and should be the Tribe QB starter for more than 1 year. It'll be interesting what GC does with his freshman class. They have a very good QB coming out of Sevier in the Foreman kid. I suspect you'll see him move to wideout though. I look for Cook to be the QB at D-B for at least 2 years.
compusatman
Wow! Anbody check out Farragut's schedule yet. It's ballistic! Got to be one of the hardest schedules in the state. I understand they lost a ton to graduation...is that correct? They have made it to round 4 every year since '04. From '01 back for a ways they were trash. Did they get a new coach in 2002? Anyway, they've been consistant since '04 but they just can't seem to deal with Ooltiwah. Is Farragut considered Knoxvilles crown Jewel? Somebody will probably say, "No Maryville is". I think Bearden beat them once in the past 5 years. Indians...I hope you can pull this off! It would get you off and running. Good luck. (Addendom) Sorry Art...didn't mean to step on your post. Didn't pay close enough attention to what you wrote. Anyway, it's a great schedule.

History has shown, that if DB can make the Farragut game close but still lose it will actually help them later on in the season. Seems like they always play better at the end with a few loses on the books.

Farragut is indeed a tough team and has really kicked but for the last several years (since 2004) but they have not made the semis every year as you had thought earlier. They have made the 3rd round (quarters) several times though. Here is their recent history: 1998 AAAAA Sevier County W 17-7 Early Round AAAAA Oak Ridge L 17-3 Early Round 2000 AAAAA Kingsport Dobyns Bennett L 41-14 Early Round 2004 AAAAA Campbell County W 20-6 Early Round AAAAA Oak Ridge L 48-0 Early Round 2005 AAAAA Bearden W 21-17 Early Round AAAAA Ooltewah W 33-16 Early Round AAAAA Oak Ridge L 28-7 Quarterfinal 2006 AAAAA Bearden W 20-6 Early Round AAAAA William Blount W 21-7 Early Round AAAAA Ooltewah L 42-14 Quarterfinal 2007 AAAAA Jefferson County W 43-13 Early Round AAAAA Kingsport Dobyns Bennett W 28-6 Early Round AAAAA Bearden L 28-14 Quarterfinal 2008 AAAAA Science Hill W 28-7 Early Round AAAAA McMinn County W 17-7 Early Round AAAAA Ooltewah L 14-7 Quarterfinal And just for those that love to hate DB, here is theirs; not too bad Only 4 early losses in 12 years and several semi games to balance it out.
