The Real Maryville Attendence

I ask a friend of a friend who knows someone at the TSSAA to look up the paid attendence to Maryville's play-off games last year. Here they are:

2,478 - Cleveland @ Maryville

5,726 - Red Bank @ Maryville

3,301 - Rhea County @ Maryville

3,865 - Morristown West @ West

Only a handful of people get in without a ticket so these numbers give a pretty accurate indication of how many people were in attendence at the games.

West game was at Morristown. That is pretty low... The stadium was packed for all these games and the school (NOT ME) claims the stadium holds 8100. So...Maybe the school needs to go over their statistics again.

Thanks for setting all of us straight yellowdog. We do draw more than anyone in East Tennessee than I can think of. And we do have the best public school system in Tennessee, according to an independent study conducted by the Nashville Tennessean. How many does your team draw per game and by the way, who is your team? Go Rebs.

YEAH! I noticed that you were like editing this post to keep it at the top.

Didn't edit to keep it on top, edited it because you pointed out that the semi-final game was at Morristown and I fixed it because of that -- thanks for pointing that out.

Maryville does in fact have a great school system and great team following. I would be proud to if that was my team.

I would argue that Dobyns Bennett draws at least 6,000 per game and over 8,500 for South, Science Hill, MBA or another big game. I have been to Maryville as well and DB fills up a larger stadium in my opinion. I will say the Oakland/Riverdale game is hands down the biggest crowd on average in the state. Trust me guys, you can't get close to those numbers. At least 12,000 every time and sometimes closer to 18,000. Again though, that is at MTSU.

Okay Maryville doesnt have the biggest attendence in the history of high school football. We aren`t complaining that I know of? I guess those 6 state championships kinda take the sting out of not winning the attendence championship.

This is a friendly convo, I was just thanking yellow for the info and I sure Starsnbars was also. "Don't start ____ wont be ____"~Black Knigts

I am pretty sure I've seen the Maryville att. posted on here as 8,000 to 10,000 depending on the game (Alcoa, Red Bank especially). There shouldn't be anything wrong or insulting about posting accurate numbers. Replying about Maryville's school system and state titles seems like dodging the issue, why, I have no clue. This isn't exactly a controversial topic.

Umm no, I think you dont know what STARSNBARS was saying. I remember this maybe you don`t.

Just like the attendance figure being inflated so is the academic statement: Fact: Maryville was 12th in the state in the Mathematics gateway exam and 63rd in Biology. Hardly the top academic system in the state -- a good one yes - but not the best.

When Jefferson County, Marion County, Cleveland, Gallatin were all in their winning years they also had more people at games than their opponents. That is the way it works.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
