Great game even through the monsoon

Just got in from a friend who I played football with. We headed out to the game and it was an interesting night to say the least.

 

1. Boone won. Defense handled SH the whole game...but they ran the ball and got close a few times. The stop at the end of the half on the 2 yard line was really a hit to the gut to SH. The second half was all Boone. Great Defense, a none stop runathon, and a monsoon that made for an interesting 4th quarter. Great job Boone. 50, 9, 16, 5, 58, whoever you are, you all played a knockout game. 40 got the hit of the night on Touchdown Friday Night and it was a great hit!

 

2. SH. They moved the ball, but too many turnovers. Getting stopped on the 2 yard line is effort and pride....and I remember back in the Green days that he would have a fit if we ever got stopped within the 5. It is a matter of respect...and wow I was surprised at that.

 

3. The officiating was horrible the first quarter. I can see the holding call, but the next play they gave a block in the back call where EVERYONE saw the kid put his hands up before he even was close to him. From my vantage point, I saw no contact and wow...surprised at that. Next, SH laid a knock on one of our kids after the play on the sideline...no flag. Then, same thing happens and THEN the flag comes out. There was another call I can't remember, but wow.....some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.

 

4. The SH Fans...wow......I'm shocked. You brought NO ONE! The Boone side had way more people than you. I'm wondering if the majority of your fans were band parents. Seriously...great band....but where is the old science hill pride? Your stadium looked terrible, your fans were quiet all night, it was like no one was there from your school? I mean...SH was one of the teams that just shocked everyone but really...I can't believe what I saw. Before you blame the coach or anything...which I will admit there was some plays I just didn't get... I see kids quitting and fans doing the same. Just my opinion.

 

Last...great game for Boone. Biggest win at SH and a 23 to 0 shut out. Nicely done, you've established the run now boys!

I will say SH has a lot of athletes...they should be better than they are. With those kids, you should have them get determined, work their butts off, and you should have 7 wins a season. I don't know, but I do know as far as opinions are concerned....Boone beating SH is something the city hates.

God, I hope so! I knew from the very first season S-Hill (K. Turner) made a bad choice! Stop the bleeding, cut the losses and look for a new coach for next year. PLEASE!

I believe it is very clear that Science Hill is not a very well coached team. Coach Smith said "all I need a defense for is to get me the ball back". O K A Y . . . Hmmm . . . 13-15 in his first 28 games. Is this the direction Science Hill had in mind?? Next year is a new season, new field, new stadium and time for a new coach. Just my opinion

my thought first of all. daniel boone played a great game. there athletes are a very fine coached team and your record proves it. there are coaching issues at the hill and i do not know what the future holds for smith and his coaching status but we have 3 games left and they need our support. and as far as the home crowd goes i guess when theres a chance of rain not many show up.

Great game for boone last night I am proud of our fans who waited out the monsoon and im proud that Boone showed up to play. Many good and bad things I saw last night.

 

Cons

1. The officiating was horrible. For them to call a block in the back when he clearly put his hands on the front of his shoulder pads is just sad. I can see us getting holding calls but not consecutive flag after flag. The officiating dont need to be worry about how they could screw Boone over but they needed to protect the players. When a receiver is walking out of bounds and is clearly defenseless at the time then that is a uncalled for and is what we call a personal foul.

 

2. Science Hill fans you disappoint me. I believed you all would bring a packed house but what I saw was just sorry. If you are a true SHHS fan than rain should not stop you. After the monsoon was over I looked up and 80 percent of you had disappeared Then I look at our section and maybe 10 percent left.

A city school with such a high fan base just disappointed me.

 

Pros

1. Boones defense is one of the best in East TN. No doubt when you stop the Hilltoppers on three straight plays on the 2 yard line shows that you have heart. Boones secondary are ball hogs they read the quarterbacks eyes every long pass he threw down the field. Dont get me wrong you all have a great quarterback and great receivers. Its just our team wanted it more than you did.

 

2. What more can anyone say about Boones kicker Brandon Burkey. He had the flu last night but that didnt stop him from playing. Big Heart and Big leg. Keep kicking the way he does then he might receive a scholarship before its all said and done.

 

3. Our offensive line did great all night in making holes and protecting the quarterback. That last drive that lasted seven minutes just showed that the Science Hill kids need more conditioning. they were bent over couldnt get there breaths and the running backs where just lowering the head and running the defensive backs over.

 

All in all it was a great game.

All I have to say is I was the one promoting Daniel Boone and as far back as the summer during 7/7. Nearing the beginning of summer practice I had a conversation with Coach Jenkins and watched a couple of practices a bit later on and was convnced they were at least the spoiler of the conference. Well, they have done some spoiling. I also alluded to their near future as is related to their huge housing growth which in turn relates to numbers in the school system. An issue Coach Jenkins is bubbly about. Boone has had for about 5 years (the housing bust has been going on for about 10 years) the reference as the coming new DB. Not in name but in numbers and performance. That conversation centered around who would be this seasons premier RB and all were examined and his comment was that he had a present for CS from DB. Well, that's all it took for the city people to get their panties in a wad and so the post went largely unnoticed except for the bad press for CS. That crying went on for ever. Any way, my point is Daniel Boone wants respect. I must say that after 5 years with Stacy Carter and after sending a few wonderful athletes to colleges South still is wanting for respect. We make one mistake and "our ride is over". At least that is how the "old money" treats us. So for you Boonies you might want to batten down the hatches and break out the C Rations because your respect will be long suffered. You will need at least 5 solid years of kicking A to get a B in class. My suggestion to you is to quit whinning and continue bustin' it up and quietly become who politics and economics have assuredly guaranteed you will become. You are fortunate for your future is bright...any economist could see that. Conversly, South is on a path for destruction. Kingsport City BOE has made sure of that. South has had their chance. The school opened in 1980 so to wait until 2004 to decide to attempt to reach greatness is...well, a bit late. Nevertheless the program is continually reaching for greatness. You must realize no one will give you any respect until you earn it. And even then you will have gotten lucky. This is not necessarily my view but is definately the view of the community. So, there you go...a dose of reality. I am proud for your recent success and celebrate with you for I know how it feels to see a floundering program and have children that are a part of it's restructure and success. Your trump card is that your community is built on solid rock. South is built on sand. And in the late 70's when inteligent proponents of sesession advocated incorporation of Colonial Heights to overcome the inevitable washing away of the sand most residents could not see the bow was slipping just so indicating that we were taking on water; albeit very slowly. And now that the fate of the Titanic is evident we are steaming ahead full with open bar and band playing vowing to "When In Doubt Charge" as we will go down in true Confederate fashion. For you I must say enjoy your construction for it is not the destination but the ride that is the glamour. And as I see it you travels are bought and paid for.

 

One more thing...get some decent uniforms and try and match your socks. Upgrading goes a long way toward building morale. We're not working on the farm you know. After all...you can't come to the party until you get a suit. From the Rebel Nation
