Megan Lyons was better than OK Bud....it was a real treat getting to watch her in Green for 4 years. I hope we see her coaching in Greeneville someday. Manuel wasn't half the player.Megan showed up ready to play every game and gave 110%. I saw Keisha give 110% once in the Ladies Classic, posting up against Sylvia Fowles. She just flat shut Fowles down. I don't think she turned in another performance like that for the rest of her high school career...it was frustrating to see someone with so much talent and so little desire. I loved watching Sienna Forney too! and Alex White....we could use another pg like Alex. Oh the memories!!!

Barb, what was really great were the 2 years that those Greeneville teams played Jeff County 4 times each year. Those were some great games, and the shame is, we probably didn't realize just how much talent we were watching. I miss those years (actually those teams) also. I saw Lyons play 6 or 7 times those two years, against Ashley Kyle, and they were great performances for both of them.

Good luck to all the teams over there. The IMAC group misses you GreenEVILle (sorry, couldn't resist) posters. Not the same without you guys...and BARB!

Bud stick by your guns. Their are really some people on this board who believe they are the know all tell all. Barb and raiderray just because this may be your passion does not mean it has to be everyone's.

Oh I'm not backing down. barb and I go back a little bit. We usually agree on most things and have even planned some sleep overs together (I might need to explain this one :?:) , but on this one we disagree. I still repect her opinion and want to hear it. She is very knowledgable, I think she just has some biased opinions on this one. She loves her GHS and there is nothing wrong with that.

Thanks Bud...yes I am the world's biggest Megan Lyons fan....she set new team records for points scored and assists during her time in green and excelled in both track and volleyball (Although Dixon did smash the points record, I believe the assist record still stands) and I won't disagree that this year's team is perhaps not as strong as in years past. I won't entirely disagree with you about Manuel. I wouldn't use the term lazy.I think she was more disinterested than anything. If she had been as committed to the game as Nicole, she would have been a serious D-1 prospect. I just don't think she was all that into it. Now about the tourney...is anyone going to knock off Greeneville or SG to get to the finals????

No Prob barb. I think Kiesha also liked the boys more than the court. I think if anyone knocks the toptwo teams off it will have to be Chuckey Doak. The other teams just aren't that talented (talent is down). WG turns the ball over too much and has no go to player and lacks on defense. Claiborne is about identical to WG. I hadn't seen Grainger play but their record speaks for themselves. Cumberland Gap may be the upset watch if they play their best but IMO thisis a three team conference.

Wonder what the snow will do for the tournamnent? In all likelyhood Greene County will be out again tomorrow with the way it looks right now. I'm sure Claiborne County will have some snow too. Not sure about Grainger County but I heard it was starting to look bad in Jefferson County and they're not too far from one another. I know tonight's snow will probably be gone by tomorrow night which would only effect South Greene and West Greene anyways and they have short trips. Anyone see any cancelations in the future or will they get these games in as scheduled?

Good Luck BRAC. Should be exciting. If refs will let them play this should be a good tournament. And if the SG coach will let the girls play man to man and not pull them into a zone defense SG shouldnot have any problems with this tournament. SG style of fast and in your face will wear most down...

Good Luck to all. :thumb:

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
