What is your point Reddog? Are you part of the White's Creek team and know which players missed the game? I know they had all of their starting skill players on the field. The original post wasn't asking about Goodpasture or White's Creek. Let's focus on CPA vs Lipscomb. If your post is making reference to the fact you think Lipscomb will lose, then please tell us all why you think that.

Lipscomb had some starters out versus Whites Creek also. There were some other factors that also may have contributed to the bad performance versus Goodpasture. However, in the end, Lipscomb played a very poor game and Goodpasture played well. They won...period. I believe the Mustangs are starting to come together as a team and perform well in all phases of the game. I believe they'll be ready Friday night.

Just to get on another subject. My younger son played a MS game at CPA last night and the field is WET. How will the field conditions affect this game? I'd like to hear some other opinions on this.

Should be fun tonight. Good football weather with a little "chill" in the air. I know that CPA will be fired up but I think the Mustangs run game and solid defense will be too much for the Lions to handle. I look for Officer and Bledsoe to have big games and the Musyang secondary to create problems for the CPA passing game.

Hopefully, the football games will mirror the atmosphere of the Lipscomb and CPA basketball games. The students and fans from these two schools have had some great games and lots of fun playing each other. I hope it happens in the football games similar to the basketball rivalry.

One last comment. I hope the CPA folks help make the environment on the visitors side presentable for this game. On Tuesday, the sidelines on the visitors side was a mud pit for the players and coaches, also the stands on the visitors side had dirt or mold (something dark and slick) on the bleachers. I know it will be wet, but if the bleachers could be wiped-down prior to the game it would be appreciated.

Have you seen the nice fold-down seats that were installed in the visitor section at Lipscomb? Oh and they're cleaned-up nicely before each game.

If they won't do it, maybe we'll get the gorilla who was at the basketball game to slide down each one prior to the game. Then we can send him over to the CPA side to hug the cheerleaders.

I don't know about the best secondary ever. There have been a lot of good ones in this decade.

What about this group? Safeties - Clay Lemming & Austin Rogers; Corners - Byan Rlankenship & Cutler Robinson; Nickelback - Burton Elrod

I'm not sure on the spelling on some of those names, but I'm confident that is how Pat Sperduto pronounced them.

The undefeated 1994 team had a secondary that would match up with any in recent years. Cornerbacks were Shane Pharr and Steve Parks and safteys were Scott Rhodes and Andrew Stewart. Pharr and Parks were punishing tacklers as well as good in coverage. Rhodes and Stewart both had excellent hands and great range defending against the deep ball.

That win and game demands more than 3 words. The marsh(that name should stick) took both teams out of their game strengths. Mud was flying on every play! Roman was his tickle the Ivory best but wet hands are slippery and their ground game was nonexistant. Lipscombs line ground it out but CPA nosedived to stop them. Officer ave about 3 yards per carry. Lip's passing game in the two minute esp to my man Johnson saved the day! A better field would have made this game better but no less exciting. Coach Mac still has a few plays up his back pocket ,that they practice daily , that saved the day . Reminded me of the Mitchel game their, minus a few tossed helmets and a police escort out of town.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
