SKYLAR MCBEE

Their saying he could see around 15 minutes a game. Which is excellent considering he is a walk-on, but he is the real deal, he just needs to bulk up a little more to see extended time.

I don't think bulking up has anything to do with Skylar's minutes. He's much stronger than Hopson or Tatum. He'll have to show that he can defend on the ball. He does a great job defensively off the ball as evidenced by the steals he's had in the exhibition games. He's a tough kid that was All-State in football as well as basketball. Much better athlete than most people realize.

We'll find out how good he is in a few weeks. The two exhibition games had terrible guards that he was matched up against. I want to see if he can stay with a good, quick guard defensively. He has played well so far though, and I hope he has a fantastic season. It's always nice to see a hometown player succeed at the big level.

I'm not saying you're wrong about his strength. But from what I've seen he lacks the size that Hopson and Tatum have. I hope McBee has a great career in orange but with the highly touted recruits already committed and several others on the target list this could be his one and only moment in the spotlight.

I am not saying that you are wrong either, but did you think he would be in the 10 man rotation as a walkon freshmen. Not many people did. He has proved people wrong at every level and I believe he will continue to do so. Highly touted players are fine, but they do not have a way to measure heart and desire. Noone has more of that than McBee. Some may have as much, bot none have more.

Definitely stronger than either Hopson or Tatum. He's added about 10 lbs of muscle (but was stronger anyway). He lacks their height and length. He's a very hard worker and has busted it in the weight room to improve strength and quickness. He may be as consistent as either from 3.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
