Dobyns-Bennett offseason thread

One thing is a given now, looking back at our season.DB played two of the states final 8 in both 5A and 6A and one from each class is guaranteed to be in the state semi's this year. There was nothing like starting with Farragut and ending with Maryville for a young team with very few seniors.Returning players, hit the weights and get "ALL" the players out for next year. It's going to take a complete year around deal to compete with the beast in the east.Roll Tribe

clark what a joke :popcorneater:

Now that is funny..............comming from a South fan no less! :thumb::roflol:

Well, Clark and his staff are no Joke and you know it Reb. He isn't Gilligan (who I am starting to think the "joke" label applies. Dobyns Bennett has some fine coaches, Wagner, Christian, Watson, Barrett, to name a few more. (Watson will really be missed, by the way, when he decides to hang it up). This was just a down year, talent-wise, and they only played one game with real intensity and purpose (South). I think there are two things, from my personal observations, that Clark could greatly improve on: #1: Play-calling - seems to be so predicable, and in the playoffs in previous years it was even misguided (Kinda like the Pats last night! Go Colts!). If Skunk were here still, I bet he'd agree. #2: Clark needs to quit being such a goof ball with the media, and with pretty much everyone. Pull the kids together and show 'em that THIS year, we get serious year-round. Show them some fire that they need to set the tone. (You guys need to change the AD first and foremost)

Good luck Indians! Save me a first half seat in 2010 (in the second half, I'll just take a band parent's seat. I think the Toppers, Vikings, and Rebels will be down in 2010, but will the Indians be up?

I think next year needs to start now with the young guys working without the coaches on conditioning and weights, plus at school and other sports.I doubt that Clinton and Sevier county will be any better than they were this year, and we will not lose a great amount of playmakers. If we go 5-2 in the conference as we did this year and 2-1 outside as we could have this year, than we have not worked hard enough in the off season.I think a 9-1 team is very possible next year and 8-2 if someone is better than I would project. That doesn't mean that all the teams that beat us this year can't do it again, but I will not be happy at all if they do.As for the coaching staff,I really like what DB has and appreciate what these guys have done for our kids over the last several years.

We in Oak Ridge have a lot of respect for the DB Program and have enjoyed playing them over the years and a lot of us missed playing them this year, but that is the way the schedule worked out. We have experienced a couple of down years here and know how DB fans feel. Sometimes, you just don't have the talent and when I watched DB and Farragut this year, that is the impression I had coming away from the game about DB. Their lines seemed smaller then usual, they did not have the normal speed they usually have, especially at receiver and defensive back and their QB play was not consistent. Sensabaugh is a great running back, but he had a tough time running against Farragut behind that line. I know Graham Clark is a good coach and a great guy. I think if he can get the talent level up, DB will be good again. Every several years, you just get a year that you don't have it, DB had one of these this year. Some have brought up playoff losses, well, McMinn was a pretty good team last year, and a couple of years they lost to us in the playoffs, 2003 and 2004, but they were a great team both those years and in both seasons had beaten us. So hang in there, they will be better. We are coming back, but it doesn't happen overnight, sometimes it rides on a special class coming through.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
