SECMAN
Ruth I believe you have Creasy at Trousdale in 2007.That is incorrect. He was defense coordinator at Riverdale in 2007 If I remember correctly.AS to the hire of Coach Wyant, he will be fine as long the seegull parents get behind him, work as hard as he does, and always have his back no matter what.He will not be able to change the attitudes of the players if the parents are not behind the coach.I personally know him and his family, and I am very happy for Coach W. 2priceless
SECman, he was putting the record from Trousdale before Creasy came which was 2007 which was good but no 15-0 like it was his first yr as head coach. Wyant has only been a DC for 2 yrs in his coaching career . Both yrs as DC were at Seegull. So yes, he has a lot of rings as an asst. but NONE of those rings were from him being a coordinator at ANY of those programs. He is a hard worker. Rankin abused him at RHS . He did all the things over there that a head coach SHOULD....as in acting as liason to the boosters, planning the banquets, etc. Not trying to be a jerk, but just b/c you have a ring as an asst doesn't automatically make you successful as a head coach. After all, Watson had a ring from Riverdale too. And we all know that Britton had a few as well from Riverdale.....and HIS yrs at FC were a bust. Good luck to wyant. Wonder if his wife follows him to seegull?
SECMAN
Ok thanks 2p.I misunderstood.DId you ever read my choice for head coach at siegel? Well just in case you didn't, I thought Brad Cowan was a good fit for siegel. What do you think?
warriorsman
Wyant is the man! How can you pick a guy with fewer rings and less experience? Wyant has five, not two rings. He has been in big-time high school football, and he's smart enough to make the tough choices needed to make the Stars something to fear. Watch out if he's hired. Go get it Greg. warhawks
It will all be ok guys! Its football. Greg knows his stuff and will work hard and do what ever it takes to right the ship at Siegel! Coach W will use the talent he has in the proper places and will do well. I would also bet you will see a new offense that works at Siegel. GO STARS!
2priceless
SECman, did Cowan apply? If so, I had not heard his name in the mix. While I do think he is a great guy and a good motivating kind of coach, I just don't see him as a successful head coach at this point in his career. The year he called our offense ( Ferg's last)......he changed us to wingt. I never felt like he truly understood that system. It was a huge bust, and probably was a part of Ferg's firing. He also took over the weightroom that year, and I felt like our line suffered. He worked more on speed and quickness. That is a great thing, but linemen need that leg strength to be dominant. There is no comparison to what he did in the weightroom and what White is doing now.....NONE. Another guy with 3 rings, 2 as asst in 2 programs and a 1 as a player....that is not ready to make the jump yet. BTW, I am not trying to put him down. I would hate it if he ever left OHS. He has been invaluable as a motivator and is a very likable guy.
Lost Old Dad
Actually according to the DNJ article Coach Wyant has '3' years as a DC. Two at Siegel and one at Moore County I believe before he joined the staff at R'dale. Face it folks there will be NO more wingT programs in Rutherford County until it WINS it all in 6A. If R'dale had not done as well as it did this year and had repeated what it did last year we would be discussing who the new HC would be at R'dale. Principals at both Siegel and R'dale DO talk to one another so is there REALLY any surprise Siegel did NOT pick a wingT coach? Before the season started I said that there was 3 HC slots on the line this year. Two have gone and the third was only saved by FINALLY using a passing game this year! truthandjustice
2P do you think Ferg's firing had anything to do with the previous years of having a losing record? Just a thought.

Bucksfan
No dog in the hunt here, just reading the posts and good luck to Coach. Has anyone considered the fact that Coach Stockstill from MTSU has a kid (QB) at Seigle and the he might have had some influence on not getting Wing T guy in there? Rumor. One would think that might carry a little influence. Again, just a new thought not trying to knock the hire.
