Coalfield Coach/AD Needs Prayer

Coacht friends and foes. I wanted to ask all of you to pray for the Middle School Head Coach and Athletic Director at Coalfield School. He went in for "routine" surgery and has had complications for some time as a result of that surgery. Coach Basler has been in the hospital in ICU for two weeks, and is facing a complicated procedure, hopefully this week in order to get him on the road to recovery. I know he and his family would appreciate the additional prayers on his part.

In addition to being a good man, Coach Basler is a proud new father. Please keep his wife and young son in your prayers as well.

Coach Basler and his young Yellow Jacket team won their first TSSAA Middle School gold ball last month.

I am praying for Basler and his family. He is a good man. I played against him in high school while at rival county schools, coached against him in later years at rival schools, and have had opportunities to go to clinics with him while on rival coaching staffs, and worked with him at other times. I consider Basler as a very good friend. He is a man that does not have enemies, only friends. Please take time to pray for Shawn and his family, I guarantee he would for you. Knowing him the way I do, I know he will pull through and be coaching the young men of Coalfield for a long time to come and supporting his beloved Jackets anyway he can.

Get well soon Shawn.

I received word this evening that Coach Basler had successful surgery yesterday. He's still facing serious health issues and concerns. He's still in ICU. Continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers, as well as his family. If you would like to send a card, the address at the school is :

Coalfield School

Attn: Shawn Basler

1720 Coal Hill Road

Coalfield, TN 37719

I'm sure the cards would be greatly appreciated.

    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
