If you want to know why the Division 2 title games are not being televised like the Division 1 games are, you need to call the TSSAA. They are the ones who made that bone-head decision. My feeling is is that if you are not going to broadcast ALL of the title games, you should not broadcast ANY of the title games. Remember, the TSSAA also does the same thing with basketball as well.

This is a clear and obvious case of discrimination and a complete lack of respect being shown towards the Division 2 teams by the TSSAA.

If it is true that the DII games are not being broadcast, I can't decide whether this is more idiotic or pathetic. It's a tough call. Outside of the 6A championship, which is the division my son plays in, the MBA-MUS matchup is by far the most intriguing to me for many of the reasons mentioned above.

WUXP is the Nashville station and I just checked their listings online. They do not show the DII games scheduled for Thursday but they do show the D1 games being broadcast starting at noon - very disappointing. Instead they are showing - "Home for the Holidays (HD, PG-13) An unemployed mother and her gay brother brace themselves to spend the Thanksgiving holiday at home with their overbearing parents."

OK, I think I'm coming down on the side of pathetic.

Someone earlier in the thread said that a Memphis TV station supposedly was going to broadcast the MUS game. I'm not sure how that would be possible since the TSSAA controls the broadcast rights and who produces the games. If they only contracted for the DI games then I don't see how the MUS v MBA would be televised in Memphis...

Here is a reply I got from Matthew Gillespie at TSSAA:

The last game (7:00 DII-AA) is on TV. It's on PBS

stations in Memphis and in Middle Tennessee.

Unfortunately, the first game is not. However, there is

live audio and a live videostream that will be on the

TSSAA website for both of the Division II games on

Thursday.

Basically, screw you----if you want to watch, pay me more money.

I just checked WNPT's website (Nashville PBS station) and the game is not on the schedule. Maybe they haven't updated it yet.

Additional Response from Mr. Gillespie - I will give him this. He did respond very quickly and with answers that almost make me happy, and these days that's not a very easy thing to do :roflol:

There actually is no charge for the audio or videostream.

Completely free.

I wish we were broadcasting every game. This is the first

year we've had any interest from TV for DII at all, and

obviously that's the 2nd game. Basic reason it's not

broadcast, is there's noone that's expressed interest to

us to do so. If they do, we'll gladly try to get all

games on TV. We'd love to see it as much as you. Believe

me.

Let me know if you have any additional questions or

concerns.

The only thing is that "there has been no interest expressed?" I wonder if 4A specifically asked for theirs to be televised ? (like I said, ALMOST happy)

So since forming DII in 1997 this is the first year that anyone has expressed interest in televising the DII championship football game?

I really find that hard to believe....next excuse please!!!

WNPT Nashville does NOT have the game listed on their schedule.

That 1A South Pittsburg vs. Union City game will be on TV at noon Friday so that makes me feel better.

Ya'll are misunderstanding what he said. He meant that a broadcasting company has not expressed interest in producing it. I'm pretty sure he understands that there are people who want to watch it.
