just watched webb this weekend and that team should be in the top 5 easy. with their new coach and new approach, they should finally become winners in basketball, just like football. tarwater is best post in city and quietly the whitehead kid is the best point guard in town. they have a cant miss tandem with a great coach

Webb has a nice team, but they got beat by CAK and that keeps them from being included. Gibbs also lost to CAK but beat Carter and AE twice. Whiteside is a good guard, but 5 of the top 6 have equal if not better point guards. Boyd(Fulton), Jackson(West), Mathieu(Central), Lawson(Bearden), and Smith(Anderson County) are all very good guards. No doubt Whiteside is a good player, but you were watching the Grace tournament and that is not a competitive tournament. Scott lost to Sunbright and they were in the championship. Prepxtra should release their rankings this week and we'll see where Webb lands in their picks. Coach Norris has them on the right track, and Tarwater is one of the 5 best players in the Knoxville area.

Who are the top 10 players in the area?

1. Steele-Fulton

2. Hood-Lenoir City

3. Tarwater-Webb

4. Boyd-Fulton

5. Wilson-Carter

6. Campbell-Fulton

7. Bennett-Carter

8. Smith-AC

9. Alred-Clinton

10. Billingsly-Sweetwater

This is a pretty good list. You may want to include the Malicoat kid from Campbell Co.. He did drop 58 against Oak Ridge the other night.

I heard about that. 58 points in a game is crazy. It took me everything in high school to get 42 points in a game. What really shocked me is that Cambell County didn't even get him touches when they played Clinton. It looks like he finally got smart and started getting his two talented post players touches instead of shooting 50 3's during the game.

9) Devin Jackson, JuJuan Williams, CJ Alred, Mo Barber, Tyler Vittetoe, Tyler Smith, Julian McBee, Landon Hunley, Cody Mallicote, Braylon Bennett, Cameron Langley, Jose Agosto, Taylor Broussard

The last two spots are a toss-up at this point in the year.

I don't know if you forgot pg Jaeland Lawson of Bearden or just don't think he is that good, but he is playing super basketball so far this year and is EASILY a Top 10 player in the Knoxville area, in my opinion and I have seen most of the guys you have listed.

Can't see how anyone--especially someone who calls themself a "guru"--can list 21 names of top players in the East Tennessee area and not mention Micah Ballard. Is this an oversight Hoopsguru? Or do you really not believe Ballard belongs anywhere in your "top 21"?

Not only do I not out Ballard on this list I remove Tarwater from the list. I have seen him play several times againist 1A school and he has been shut out, Guru needs to forget classes and and look at the best players. Do that I this list will have credit

    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
    • Looks like Trent Noah was released from his NLI at South Carolina with intent to pursue playing closer to home. Kentucky and Louisville both reported to be in the mix for him now.
