Mt. Juliet / Riverdale

Will Riverdale have any answers for 6'1" Caya Williams? If you pack it in on her the Lady Bears will make you pay from behind the arc. They like to run it up and down the court and force teams into mistakes with their press.

MJ really hasn't played anyone yet except Hillsboro, who is down this year and Riverdale has played a tough schedule. The Lady Warriors will need to be ready Tuesday when they come to the "Cave"

This is a good early season test for both of these highly regarded squads.

Mt Juliet wiil have to get more balanced scoring but also may be able to press better. The cave is worth 4 points. They will have to get the fire marshall to turn the crowd away. Riverdale if you don't get there over an hour before game time you may not get in. Riverdale will not let anyone beat them on the boards, Mt. Juliet will have to beat them outside or with the press.

How did yall do against hillsboro? Sounds like we are very similar...we like to push the ball and we like to pressure defense we have a couple of very good players at the post and and we have several shooters that can knock down the 3 sounds like this is going to be a GREAT match up

The Lady Bears handled Hillsboro with ease 71-38.

This should be the preliminary of a possible matchup in Murfreesboro as these teams can easily be 2 of the eight that make it to the Murphy Center.

A really good early season basketball game. It was a tale of two halves, with MJ dominating inside early and Riverdale making all the right adjustments at the half to get the win.

The turning point was the smaller MJ guards inability to throw over the top of the press. This created numerous defilections and turnovers that went for easy layups. Both teams came away proving that they can compete for the AAA state championship. I look forward to watching a rematch in the Murphy center in March.

There were several college scouts there last night that got to see a couple of really impressive sophomores in Caya Williams and Shacobia Barbee. These two girls can really get it done.

    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
