"arguably"?????? how is there an argument for any other bracket. 5 of the top 10 teams in the nation including the top 3? how do you devise a tourney with the top three teams in the nation in the same bracket... they been watching the TSSAA and just taking the easy way out and doing a blind draw? lol

I think Mtown was just being diplomatic. Had he said it's the toughest bracket someone would have come on here and tried to argue otherwise! Of course the Smith bracket is designed to be the toughest every year. Each other bracket is constructed based on the desired level of difficulty as well. This leads to the greatest level of competition, ie. fewer blowouts.

actually the brackets were about right

When you consider that the way they had to split up the California Schools who were all probably in the top 15 nationally to start the year

#1 St Mary's #2 Mater Dei #3 Poly and #4 Brea--and that's exactly how the brackets fell

and on each side of the bracket you had Memphis and Mt Lebanon and on the other side you had Bolingbrook, Christ the King and Riverdale Baptist--I think the only thing you could really argue is whether some teams got put in the wrong division

It is the next TOC event bracket that looks very questionable--with what looks to be the three best teams all in the same Bracket--Mo West Oak Ridge and Dallas Skyline--

Oak Ridge beat Brea in the Brea Tournament which is why Brea dropped out of the national rankings for a while

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
