REGION 7-AA BRACKETS

There seems to be some confusion concerning the Region 7-AA tournament brackets. The brackets on the TSSAA website are backwards. The champion from the host district (14-AA, Lexington) goes at the top of the bracket. If the two district champions make it to the region finals, the champion from the hosting district would be the home team. So the correct bracket is:

Monday, March 1

6:00 Westview vs Obion Co.

7:30 Bolivar Central vs Gibson Co.

Sorry for the confusion

Terry Clement

Region 7-AA Tournament Director

tigeracoach, I got a question.... rumor around GC stands tonight was that if GC were to defeat Bolivar and if both coaches agree and you, the Region tournament director, agreed to it, then the Region championship would be moved to Gibson Co. Is there any truth to that?

I would not think that Westview would want to have the game go from a neutral court to what would be a home game for Gibson County. Why in the world would Westview even consider agreeing to something like that?

Who knows.... That was just the rumor flying around tonight at the game. I don't think it'd really matter if we played at Lexington or GC, we're playing some great ball right now as is Westview. It's going to be a great game, can't wait!

No. The championship will be at Lexington. There is a provision in region play that if two teams from the non-hosting district reach the final for the championship to be moved to an alternate site. The problem is that District 13 did not submit an alternate site to the TSSAA. According to the TSSAA, District 13 was asked more than once to submit their site but it didn't happen. There was a thought that the championship would go to the higher seeded team from the non-hosting district in that case but that is not the case. There is no provision for that. Also, the coaches in Region 7 voted at their meeting that if there was not a sweep by District 13, the rest of the tournament would be at Lexington.

I like the neutral site thing. I personally think the sectionals should be played that way. I think a neutral site located between the teams should be picked. Just my opinion. :roflol:

i would agree with the nuetral sight for the regional championship if it was not originally scheduled for your home court. But i feel the home court for substate is an advantage givin to you for winning your region and it should remain the way it is. that being said, lexington sure is a long way for westview and gc to travel to play against each other. lets hope they will make an even longer trip to play each other next week :thumb:
