"If not approved by TSSAA...sounds like a recruiting tactic to me...depending on the coaches that are working the tryouts?"

If it is not recruiting... Why is it hosted by Kentuckiana Prep Sports Recruiting Service Inc?

The above fellow is talking about "high schools recruiting". K.P.S. is a College Recruiting Service; they help kids sign with Colleges - not high schools.

hey rockytop football....you have no valid point in the response...whether they are from east tenn, west, middle, etc....the can be a recruiting violation and i will get to the bottom of it....if you are going to have "high school coaches working" then there should be a representative from each high school for an even playing field...or tssaa official.....we all know that if "certain coaches" see something they like some will illegally recruit.....and no not ever local high school was notified.....and tbc....

I meant every 8th Grade program in Knox Co was NOTIFIED - in order to get there kids out there. Some didnt respond and thats unfortunate for the kids sake; the kids that did attend had a blast; it let them all see where they stand on a state level. Not every high school coach was notified; some were and couldn't due to other things going on. We wanted to make sure we get a good mix of HS coaches from various schools, there was more than just HS coaches working several former Vols came out too... Everyone that worked volunteered there time. If a high school coach wants to work or attend next year he is more than welcome.

There's NO law that says EVERY HS coach has to be contacted, this is a MIDDLE SCHOOL event - NOT high school and not only that kids were from ALL over the state. The HS Coaches that attended were asked by K.P.S. (from Kentucky), the HS coaches weren't calling offering to help! They were asked... So go stir up some trouble somewhere else. What HS are u a fan of b/c I know your not a coach we'll make sure we invite them next time to see if they want to volunteer there time.

Okay....first of all....before you start making points like that if you knew anything just b/c something isnt written in the bylaws doesnt mean it's not an infraction....if kps asked certain people/coaches from tennessee they had to get the names from somewhere....this is why high school football is getting awful...i remember the days when you just played where you were zoned....now all this stuff has come along...you can say all you want about this isn't recruiting but i bet if catholic or fulton or whoever else was there saw a player they wanted, you bet they talked to them about coming to there school to play and that is ILLEGAL.....this isnt stirring up trouble ......tssaa has cracked down major on this if you havent been noticing (ie grace), i am just stating facts that this could get ugly or not, just stating facts, for all area teams no one in particular......this is a big deal for all are high schools....

Considering there were high school assistant coaches there from across the state and 300 athletes and in broad view I highly doubt any coaches tried to "recruit" kids. Especially since the kids were in street clothes and NO team apparel, the kids were labeled by a three digit numbering system, so instead of knowing the athlete as Michael Jordan - Chicago Bulls, all anyone knew was #356 and HAD no clue what school the athlete went to or where he was from. Only K.P.S. had that info.... Maybe next year u can come out and police the "recruiting" for the event.

Well I am not going to police these kind of things but TSSAA will be policing this!

I am not the one that is trying to protect something and come up with all the information to say that recruiting does not happen.

EX: Coach X "Hey kid where you from?"

Player 362 "Knoxville!"

Coach X "Really, where you going to High School?"

Player 362 "I dont really know yet!"

Coach X "Well High School X is a good school and we need players like you!"

Player 362 "Really, well I am not sure where Im going, but that could happen."

You get my drift there RockyTop?

That is how that works...I have seen it done that way!

So if 300 kids sign up @ $25.00 a pop=7500.00, where is all that money going? What is in it for the kids? What is in it for the promoters?

Man, you have had more questions than all 300 players parents added together. But for your info most H.S. All-Star games costs anywhere from $250 - $500 per player. The Tennessee selected players will stay on campus for three days at Carson Newman College beginning June 2. The money is used for game uniforms (which tyically aren't cheap if u have ever had to purchase); TWO coach buses to Kentucky (those usually don't run cheap either if u have ever had to pay for a charter trip); bus trips for local activities when the kids are on campus. There is facility cost as well! I shouldn't have to answer whats in it for the kids thats self explanatory; this is a sports memory of a lifetime for these young men. The drills, combine, etc they participated in was well worth $25. There has NEVER been anything like this in our state for the kids, we received LOADS of compliments and to see the kids competing and having a blast was well worth for all involved. Any other negative spin u want to try an put on the event?? Sometimes there is just good things out there and this happens to be one of them. I can assure you all week long the participating kids have been talking about their experience here. I don't think coaches, players, families would have drove as far away as Memphis if this wasn't a GREAT thing! Hopefully u will root for your state on June 5

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
