Sequatchie
David Barger, Central's head football coach the last three years, has resigned. Barger, 35, will return to Lake County, where he started as a head coach. He was an assistant for five years at Marion County before taking over at Lake County. In four years at Lake County, Barger took the Falcons to the state playoffs four times while compiling a record of 28-17. Lake County was 0-10 the year before Barger arrived. Barger coached the Purple Pounders for three seasons, taking them to the Class 4A playoffs last year -- their first postseason appearance since 2003. Central was 2-8 each of the three years before Barger arrived. Full Article: http://chattanoogan.com/articles/article_174338.asp
PounderPride
That's too bad. It was starting to look like he was getting things headed in the right direction at CHS. I would think that coach Barger's successor will find the shop in better order as a result his hard work. Go Pounders! So much for the brotherly grudge match with Seq. Co. in August. boorelly
I hear former Austin East coach Kwayu Graham is interested in that job. He has family that attended that school. He is also good friends with Laron Jennings who foundation works with kids in the Chattanooga area.
