Murphy Fair 6A Preseason Coaches Poll

Recommended Posts

A little too much love for Germantown and White Station IMO. The spartans lost Julian Burton, Anthony Hayes, Fred Harvey, Chase Hailstock and others they'll be very young at alot of positions, but still have some talent alot of it. Germantown is overrated, they always are they lose Sir Gregory Thornton and replace him with the less physical Shantavis Lowe and a Sophmore named Damon. They don't schedule big and thus haven't won big I don't think they're the number 10 team in state, I honestly believe Wooddale is better than Gtown.

Well I've been to the County Fair but I've never been to the Murphy Fair. Where do they have this Fair at anyway. I do know this they don't know very much about ranking football teams. I mean just look at it. Its a top 10 poll and theres 13 teams listed. Whats up with that? Heck if you can't make up your mind on #10 flip a dang coin or something. And how can you have a poll this early anyway. They ain't even played a game yet. Nobody has even hit the practice field, heck Maryville might deside to move to Georgia. If you want to see the real poll you'll have to wait until after the first games are played when the WaCoJaCo Dirty Dozen comes out. Its the only poll in the state of Tennessee thats 100% correct! DANG!

So let's get this straight WaCoJaCo. You do realize its a COACHES Poll right? You do understand that the COACHES in each classification rank the teams in their classification?

The ranking of teams before the season begins is done in every sport, usually by writers who have little idea about teams outside their scope of coverage. In all cases it is done to begin stirring interest in that particular sport and to get people talking about the upcoming season.

Murphy has a unique relationship with hundreds of coaches throughout the state, and he spends months compiling the information for his magazine/web site. Those coaches rank the teams when they send in their surveys.

The polls are for fun. It's fine to promote yourself on here, but to say the coaches across the state don't know anything about the teams is ridiculous, not to mention the fact you can't get your head around when teams get the same number of votes they TIE.

Not to throw dirt on your post, but these pre-season polls are nothing more than popularity contests. Coaches have just enough time to focus on their own team, much less anyone else. I would be willing to bet i could come up with a better poll with the collective minds of all the posters on this site than the coaches. Its not a slam at the coaches, they dont have the time to deal with stuff like this, as opposed to the fans

Well,it's a good bet that any of us east Tennessee teams will have to do one thing to make the semi's.That one thing is to beat Maryville. They were young last year and had a great chance to win the state.Polls are nice when you see your favorite team take the field highly ranked, but not so much when the bulls eye is hit on your teams back.I can't say how good this poll is,but until someone beats the Rebs when it really counts in the playoffs this year,I'll say they are as good a pick to be number one as you could have
