Oak Ridge

I personnally think OR fans should relax a little. Coach Blade is not the same kind of Coach you had in the past. Coach Blade uses scrimmages to test and teach, not fine tune what he already knows he has. Testing new and backup players and teaching them at the same time for later in the season. Coach Blade coaches for the FUTURE and not just one game away.

Good luck this season. First because y'all deserve it and secondly because I want some RIBS!!!!!!!! :thumb:

Very well said.Rian Hall is a real PLAYMAKER and he and a few others were out to.I dont know why Oak Ridge fans do this every year.Blade knows his football or he wouldnt have been coach of the year.

I agree that Blade knows his football, but being "Coach of the Year" has little to do with it. Stevens has also been "Coach of the Year" and most of our fans don't think much of his football knowledge. The fact is that Stevens has won just as many state championships as Blade and neither has won one here.

Oh I think the Cats will do just fine. With all the past history to live down and a new system to learn and a bunch of new coaches it will just take time. Plus we are still pretty young. We'll see when we go over to Farr-a-gutless!

Thats what everybody said last year and the ridgers d only allowed one td aganist state runner up Maryville. They couldve beat my dragons if the ball bounced that right way.(Some say it did) They lost in the 1st rd in a heartbreaker without there QB.And dont forget beating those MAVS and holding that so called high powered offense to almost nothing.I hate to say it but there is no more Stanton Stevens to hold those cats back. They have a huge coaching advantage in every game but Mville. And you know how good those Sophs are gonna be by seasons end

Cant wait for this game AC vs Oak Ridge

I've been visiting this site for years and this is one of the most insightful comments I've read. The best coaches do use scrimmages to coach and teach. They will put untested players in situations that will challenge them. They will do it even though it might allow the opposing team to score. I would argue that most if not all of the previous coaches for the Wildcats approached scrimmages that way. The OR fans need to realize we take the opposing teams best shot. It doesn't matter if its football or checkers. Everyone, usually the coaches, want to feel like they have beat the Wildcats at something. Even if it's just a scrimmage. No disrespect aimed at Fulton. They had the experience and talent advantage at this point in the season.

I've read a couple of posts about OR scrimmaging on Friday. Yes, they are, but they are traveling just up the road to W.Knox to our little ol place at CAK. The scrimmage should start around 6PM. Hope a lot of OR fans will make the trip and patronize our lovely concession stand. :)

This scrimmage will help OR work on their pass defense (if they need to) and it will help CAK work on being more physical in all aspects of the game. Other than Alcoa, OR will most likely be the most physical team we will face this season. Likewise, I doubt OR will face anyone who throws the ball anymore than CAK.

When was Stevens TN sportswriters coach of the year?Has he ever out coached Maryville before?Coach Blade was also the d-coordinater of the number one ranked team in California. He really made the best out of his time playing linebacker at San Diego St.You kinda have to be a good coach to be invited to speak at the nike coach of the year clinic. My main point is there is no doubt how good of a coach he is.So just know they have the best coach for the job and that will not be the problem anymore.

Anderson County throws alot, but he's right. CAK literally throws the ball about 70% of the time. CAK may or may not be able to complete anything against the Wildcats, but it will be very unlikely OR will play a team that throws consistently 70% + of the time. :thumb:

CAK has a small stadium but the facilities and field are very nice. There is a nice playground connected to the stadium area if anyone wants to bring the kids.

The address for anyone who wants to GPS or Mapquest it is 529 Academy Way in Knoxville.

Make the short trip and come out and support the Wildcats. Paging Nick Orlando..... ;)

I didn't say he had been Tn Coach of the Year, although the state champion usually is. Stevens has been coach of the year for his district/region and I believe Knox County and East Tn. That doesn't mean he is a great coach, nor does it mean that for Blade. It means that each coach had an outstanding season. All coaches who win state titles are asked to speak at clinics. I agree that Blade is a good coach. I disagree that Stevens is a bad coach, if that is your point. He was a bad fit at OR. Blade had MUCH more talent at Hillsboro than they had at Maryville in that game. We will never know who outcoached whom. Believe what you want. Stevens has won a state title at AE, while Blade has won one at Hillsboro. Stevens took Or to the title game while Blade has not. The jury is still out.

Stevens took the team he inherited to the big dance and got beat BAD! Most YMCA/Boys Club/Peewee Coaches could have won with that team!

Lets see what he does at LaVergne where he does not inherit a great team.
