I was up at Sunbright and Coalfield today talking to coaches and players and filming practice. I'll have a feature story on the rivalry Wednesday night at 11pm. Channel 8 (CBS/WVLT).

 

Both teams are fired up. A couple quotes:

 

"It oughta be air raid out everywhere Friday night. There oughta be balls going everywhere." - Keith Henry, Coalfield head coach

 

"I want it bad. To be the first team out of 10 years to finally get a win [versus Coalfield], and I believe we can do it. We've got the team to do it here." - Jesse England, Sunbright quarterback

 

We'll be at the game Friday, too!

Do you have a link so that I can see the News piece from last night, I wasn't able to watch it.

I think the best games around were in Morgan County last night. I went to the Wartburg/Oneida game and wasn't disapointed. It sounds like the Sunbright/Coalfield game was just as good if not better. In the end I think all of these teams will be in the hunt and I look forward watching all the teams from Morgan County.

This is very true, I see a 3 way battle here in Morgan County Football!!!!And these boys tonight fought hard atleast 4 penaltys that could have took the wind out of our sail but Hard work Pays off!!! Sunbright I hear work Hard as well but the end results had the orange and black attack victors :thumb: Knowing the blue and Gold tradition they wont lay down. Wartburgs leaders have to keep there heads clear and play like the leaders they are Good Luck to all our erea team, May the Good Lord keep all these Boys safe!!

how does every one see this week for Morgan County Football? i think it will be pretty good.Sunbright will take care of buisness easily at Jellico, Wartburg will probably get an early fight from Oakdale but should win big at the end, and i think Coalfield has the stuff to get a big win at home vs O.S..

I think you're on the money with these predictions,td. The Coalfield-OS game could turn out to be a dandy! Also, how about them dogs? As a former Wartburg player, it does my heart good!

Yeah, tigger, sounds like you all have another juggernaut this week! Like everybody else on here says, yoy all have the softest schedule around-can't wait for Oneida, OS, and Wartburg to get ahold of you all!!!

      Yes region 1 is extremely weak but a # 5 seed out of region 2 has no business in the playoffs either.

      Could be a lot of reason from what I’ve seen so far.  The lights wouldn’t turn on at Smyrna last night and had to move games to Blackman could be a reason or maybe he is talking about how on some of the games on NFHS network the camera placement was absolutely asinine. ( had a camera set up right in front of a net and couldn’t see crap)

      If Gordonsville can manage getting through these next 2 games without using him it will be ideal. ER was the last team to not have to pitch their #1 till the state championship i believe. Worked out well for them but they also had one of the best 1A staffs of all time that year. Only allowed one run the whole tournament and it was in the 7th inning.

      And he’s not even their #1. Lights out performance. Gordonsville is in the drivers seat with their #1 arm available throughout the tournament.
