Best Coaches?

Any time a coach can transfer to a new school and take a program with many problems in the school and the basketball program as well deserves a lot of credit. Coach Tim Gardner of Lexington has taken the boys program to their first district cahmpionship game in a cery long time and a region tourney bid for the first time in 14 years. Things look very good for him and his program in the future as well.

Doug Kiel at Warren County as done a tremendous job of turning their program around. He fights for every point on the sidelines and it carries over onto the court with his players. When the jacket comes off (usually under 3 minutes into the game) it's time to rumble. Also, Kyle Turnham at Franklin County has a distinctive coaching style which breeds toughness. The last thing a Rebel player wants to see is Turnham's clinched-lipped look coming from the bench. Both coaches are basketball junkies and do a tremendous job with their teams.

What about White Station's Terry Tippett? Possibly one of the most consistant coaches around. Won the state championship in 2 of his last 3 years. He disciplines his teams like none other, and he focuses a great deal on the importance of team ball. Tippett deserves more respect.

Now, Now, I never thought you was a big fan of Hutto but I was terribly fooled. I mean lets face it if Hutto was so good why would he put a freshman who didnt even play all year except garbage time(if he even played then) in in the state tournament game against Gallatin. Well he is a senior now and I guess he will have experience for big games this year if they make it all the way. I could write a novel on politics in Wilson County and coaches who came from there, and I am pretty sure you could to snake, but anyways I am off for now, but give me a call sometime..

    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
    • I heard Alabama was at Antioch practice and Colorado has offered QB. Hoping the Bears have a great year.
