the GC/OC game last night was one of the more exciting games we've seen this season in 13AA with the Lady Rebels defending the home floor and keeping the undefeated district record in tact with a 63-61 double Overtime win. Much different than the first matchup in mid-December with the Lady Pioneers making only three 3's in that game. But last night GC was lighting it up from the outside with 12 3-pointers. Led by Junior guard Courtney Haynes with 23 points, this game was tied at 58 at the end of regulation and NEITHER team scored in the 1st OT- that's right, still tied at 58. OC outscored GC 5-3 in the 2nd overtime to take the win behind 19 points from Brandi Goodman as four Lady Rebels hit double digits.

All of these district games are getting tighter the 2nd time around which has all the makings of an interesting District 13AA tourney.

The Gibson Co. OC game was one great game! Then again the Lady Pioneers played another double overtime game vs. Northside. OC has the upper hand in 13AA it's gonna be a dog fight for 2nd and 3rd! Don't count Covington out....they are very athletic.

Go Gibson County!

It is much more interesting this year than the last couple, because you knew who was going to win. The talent is nowhere near as high this year (and probably won't be for a long time), but the teams are more competitive with one another. It should be a great District 13AA Tournament and Region 7AA Tournament.

OC has pretty much solidified it's spot as the #1 team in 13AA. Congrats to them this year! Great players and lots of young talent.

Gibson Co. hosts Milan tomorrow night. Saturday night Gibson Co. will go to Peabody for "pink out" night. Everything will be pink. Nets, jerseys, whistles etc... The boys game will be FIRST. The girls game will follow the boys game. Don't ask me why....

The sleeper team heading into the 13AA tournaments is Covington! I was listening to 93.7's broadcast of Milan and Covington tonight and Cude was talking about their district losses. All of their district losses have been decided by less than 10 points and they have beaten Gibson Co. twice. They're not your most fundamental team, but their athleticism and no-quit attitude does well for them. Coach Deon Real is a good coach and has Covington playing some good basketball. Don't overlook them in the tournaments!

The district game between Gibson Co. and Dyersburg is a big game. GC won the last one at GC by about 4 points. Dyersburg is no doubt the most talented, most athletic team in Dist. 13AA. Gibson Co.'s 1-2-1-1 press will have to be very effective and cause turnovers against Dyersburg. Hopefully GC can pull out this big game against Dyersburg and get into the 13AA tournaments as a 3 seed.

Gibson Co. defeated Dyersburg tonight by 9 in Dyersburg. GC was led in scoring by Courtney Haynes with 19. GC's press gave Dyersburg fits all night. Dyersburg was led in scoring by KK Tate with 19. She's a fun player to watch. Big win by Gibson tonight! We host Crockett Co. Friday night and roll into district tournaments next week. Keep it going!
