I'll throw out my top 5. A top 10 for me is moreless a guess rather than what I know until the season begins.

1) Clarksville Academy - No one in Single A will be able to answer to Martin and Malcolm Smith. Clarksville Academy will repeat for the Single A state champs this year.

2) Memphis Westwood - Westwood is as athletic as everything. Their talent level to go with their athleticism has got to put them at the tops in Single A.

3) CSAS - CSAS was a very talented team this year that happen to run into Malcolm Smith in the semi's. CSAS was very young and should make another run towards the 'boro this year.

4) Grace Baptist - What's a state tournament without Grace, right? They may have lost Brandon Herman, but there is still some pretty good talent there as always.

5) Lake Co. - I know this team has been a flop over the past few years with the talent they've had. However, a new coach is in place and people around Lake Co. seem pretty confident with them going to the 'boro this year as do I.

Had you asked me a month ago or so..I'd say Lake Co was a top 3 or 4 team..With Derek Swift no longer with the team I see maybe a top 10 team..Not sure about the Boro though. With Derek in the lineup..I would have said most likely a definite..Now..a maybe.Still going to be talented.

What happened to Swift?

He moved back to Hickman Kentucky where he is ineligible..And because he had moved from Fulton once before,is inegibile to come back to Lake Co without sitting out a year I believe.Had he got to play at Hicman, they would have been loaded with Leonard Smith..But since he can't play there..The best scenario would be for him to move back to Lake Co now..sit out a season and Lake Co has all their players coming back next year as well with the exception on B.J.Gauldin a 6'7 senior not expecting to start anyway..But ..Lake Co still has a lot of talent..just not what it was..And they do have another Swift..Stetson Swift thats not a bad ball player either.Lake Co will be small but quick. Not counting Gauldin, probably a couple players around 6'3 and the others under 6 foot..A couple ,like Stetson and Ralfhael Tyler around 5'8.

hampton high from east tennessee will be ranked the first time the polls come out everybody back imean 1 thur 10 and a 6 11 kid that moved in from south carolina the team can flat out play im from aaa science hill so i really dont have a dog in it but wait and see

I agree Hampton should be the truth this year. Will also be in the Arby's Classic for the 1st time in years! If they gel as the football team has, they should be tough... tell me about the 6'11 kid...can't believe it but I haven't heard about him

This will be the year that Hampton makes it's debut to the state tournament. But by no means do I see them winning it. But its not going to be an easy road with the likes of Cloudland,Cosby and Harriman in their way.

Lets remember that the same thing was said about Unaka in '04! They have the talent and ability...as I said, if this team gels they will be a team talked about for some time...this team doesnt have just one or two players,,,the starting 5 is loaded! I agree, the teams you mentioned will not be push overs but The only thing that will stifle this team will be any selfishness found within themselves...IMO...

GO DOGS....(after football of crse!) :thumb:

I know Clarksville Academy has the Smith bros who are outstanding, but do they have anything else? Do they have adequete guard play(like they had last year which was just enough to get by)? Good guard play goes a long way in high school basketball. I think CA will be good, but I'm not sure that their lack of guards won't catch up with them against a team from the west or CSAS.

Yes I was at Murfreesboro when that happened but if you remember a little luck was on their side in the month of March. If I am not mistaken 5 buzzer beaters in the month of March. "seems like alot luck to me"

TRUE! But you and I both know it takes a lil luck for a team in this region to win a title! We will see what they're made of in the Arbys....They had another great spring amongst awesome talent from all over the nation...so we're hoping that carries over and they continue where they left off before football season started

I believe Unaka is the only legitimate single A team to ever win the state championship coming from upper east tennessee or even east tennessee alone. Correct me if I I am wrong! But I know Science Hill was AAA when they won it back in the early 90's and Hampton and Happy Valley had no classification when they won it.

Was or is there anyone else that has one outside of those 4 schools including Dobyns Bennett so mainly 5 schools if I am not mistaken?

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
