Well Chief fans, our trip to the playoffs now has a destination, Gibbs High School, ranked number 2 in the quad with Sequoyah coming in as a number 7. We already did something good, 7 instead of 8, maybe because our strength of schedule, not sure. What does everyone think of the game against the Eagles? And do we know if they have good food up there or not? Will Kenny Chesney put a appearence in?

We already did something good, 7 instead of 8, maybe because our strength of schedule, not sure. What does everyone think of the game against the Eagles? Some information about Gibbs High School for you. Traffic is always bad before the games as there is a 4 way stop (no light) about a mile below the entrance to the school. Traffic will be backed up and leave early if you can. Food is handled by the band boosters with the typical fare in the concession stands. Parking surrounds the high school but if full, the elementary school about 50 yards further up Tazewell Pike on the left has over flow parking. Restrooms are in the concession stand behind the home stands. The field is in good condition and the visiting stands are metal bleachers (for those that might bring their stadium seats). It will be crowded though. Visiting team locker rooms are located above the field under the old gymnasium. Plenty of 4 foot fence surrounding the field to watch the game from for those that choose. Now about the team. Gibbs runs the triple option. Rarely passes the ball but can do so if needed. Has plenty of offensive weapons but most people talk about the Hibbett kid whom has roughly 1600 yards rushing this year and runs a 4.58 so he can move. Excellent kicker (whom is a sophomore) whom can boot it to the end zone. Big offensive line that is very effective on the quick hitting plays. Only loss was to Fulton this year but still put up 43 points on them. Defense will bend some but they do take chances on making a big play.

 

I doubt Kenny will be around but you never know around there.

I have been informed from a close source at the school that Kenny has not sponsored or taken care of Gibbs Athletics since he has left!!!!!!!! Just what I was told and think it is a shame if he has not helped out with all the $$$$$$$$ he has now.

Kenny Chesney is the biggest hypocrite on the face of the Earth. He has shot two videos at Gibbs and hasn't donated one dime to Gibbs. He blows in like a god and leaves having left nothing. He claims playing sports at Gibbs did so much for him....well he's done nothing for Gibbs but make money for himself.

 

Don't believe the hype, he is a self-centered person that cares nothing for those that cheered him on when no one knew who he was or even cared. As an alumni of Gibbs myself, I used to be a fan and proud of him for working hard and making a name for himself, but I could care less about him now. He care about nothing but Kenny Chesney.

 

Sorry for the soapbox, but he walks around and people are convinced that he does stuff for Gibbs when he doesn't.

Wow, thx for the info. Not sure if we can stop their triple option, but it plays in our favor, sorta (if we can make them punt a few times), should be a grind it out game.

Dumdum, Congrats to Sequoya on making the playoffs. Gibbs is a tough draw; they've got a really good team this year. But I know your boys will give it their all, and there's a reason they play the games on the field and not on paper.
